So, what happened to Final Fantasy XIV?

Steam is a bad metric for ff14 specifically.

Its greatly discouraged to purchase and play it on there for the amount of issues, bugs, purchase errors. Even the comments below the game tend to say so.

The numbers that are back to post Shadowbringer levels? Lol ok, guess that means the game is still growing.

FFXIV isn’t that big of a hot topic now then it was a few years ago firstly, secondly is being it got boring watching all the more zealous WoW fans get upset whenever FFXIV was mentioned in any context.

Why are WoW players so incredibly mad over another popular MMO, lmao. This topic is so funny.

FFXIV’s going through a rough patch right now. It’s a mixture of development issues and poor decision-making. Also doesn’t help that they decided to wrap up their years-long and highly popular story arc with the Endwalker expansion. The game’s bread and butter has always been its story, and now the MSQ is not that great. The lack of a good story makes all of the game’s other flaws stand out more.

Don’t know and isn’t a concern for me as is becasue theya re two different games kind of in same genera.

One has way to many in game cincematics and the other doesn’t.

I literally sat and watched friends playing it getting aggrivated and leaving after countless cinematics lasting more than 10 minutes.

FF last in my book that was any good was X-2.

Yes, viewership IS a indicator of everyone’s interests.

like what? this is obvious.

I literally just gave you numerous examples of why that isnt the case. At least try and use a little critical thinking for once.

:person_facepalming:

I feel like WoW should have that, but:face_exhaling: Well from BFA and Shadowlands, so much damage was done to the story, characters & overall lore, that: “Everyone lost their minds”

Now I feel like the hype and passion for the Warcraft universe’s story is now but a shadow of its former glory :pensive: Hoping it’ll apply retcons & fascinating story elements to rebuild – but seeing from relatively recent the Arathi / Red Dawn quests storyline … Well, things are still looking grim for the time being :joy:

You know a player-base is delusional and/or desperate when they’ll go to the forums of other games to talk about how their dying game isn’t dying.

I finally unsubbed from the game last week because the content cadence/quality just wasn’t feeling worth the money anymore…and I’m not sure it ever will because the XIV devs have not shown the capacity for making significant sweeping changes past the initial 2.0 revamp.

The combination of the 20th anniversary and the overall painfully mediocre state of Dawntrail was what ended pulling me back into WoW after a 14 year hiatus to begin with.

Game profits are a small indicator of financial interest and market demand, especially when paired with sales volume or player retention data.

They don’t fully reflect player passion or long-term engagement—combine them with metrics like active users, reviews, or Twitch viewership for a clearer picture.
Analyzing profit trends over time (e.g., via industry reports or SteamDB) can help distinguish hype from sustained interest.

Even AI says twitch and steam numbers are solid indicators.

Stop trying to argue.

Odysseus apparently…

Sooo…WoW players lol?

There’s definitely a “bucket of crabs” mentality around here, I can say that much.

There truly is. The few remaining outspoken proponents of FFXIV really go hard trying to drag everyone else down.

Dawntrail killed it for me. I just couldn’t deal with another 100 + quests for the MSQ, all exactly the same as the past expansions. Also, the forced Dungeons, trials and solo play you need to advance the MSQ was off putting.

I’m just glad I got to play FFXIV during Shadowbringers. The story had me completely enthralled, and diving into lore rabbit holes and theory discussions was the most fun I’ve had with a game in a long time. Too bad FFXIV will likely never reach such heights again.

Dawntrail story was trash, Having to babysit wuk lamat and having to go speak with her over and over and over. Oh and the RNG drops on the items needed for the first new relic weapon yeah no thanks. im not gonna bash my head in the new zone when i can just have FUN playing wow.

Rofl, can definitely tell you started in Shadowbringers.
