So, what about Aspect of the Fox?

Hey Blizzard,

It’s been a while since you removed Aspect of the Fox from us hunters. It was a really fun hunter aspect to use and I really miss it along with a few other aspects that have been pruned from the class.

Now that hunter aspects no longer provide raid-wide effects do you think maybe you could throw us a bone and maybe give Aspect of the Fox back?

Thanks.

Oh yeah… I remember this. They really shouldn’t have ripped away so many abilities.

Good question, OP. What about Aspect of the Fox? Specifically, what about it would you want “back”?

Let’s go back to Mists. Though you say “aspects no longer provide raid-wide effects” the only one that actually did that was Aspect of the Pack (which is still there, sort of, as a PvP talent). Aspect of the Cheetah was a speed bonus sort of akin to the Trailblazer talent. Aspect of the Hawk was how they kept tuning us for more damage what we used when we were attacking, and Aspect of the Fox was what we used when we were moving.

So back in Ye Olde Dayes, we could either attack at full strength (Hawk) or while moving (Fox). Our cast-time abilities couldn’t be used at full power while moving.

Now, that’s not true. (At least for Marks; I’ll plead ignorance of how BM works.) Many hunter abilities can be cast while moving - more than any other ranged DPS - and only a few can’t. So we still have the options of standing still for greater damage (with our full rotation) or moving with lesser damage (with no Aimed Shots). All that’s changed is we no longer have an intrusive extra button to hit to toggle modes.

thanks for asking

I would probably want it back just like it was: Able to cast while moving.

Because, while MM only has a few abilities with a cast timer (and BM and Surv have none), there are still things you could cast not related to combat that you couldn’t cast on the move without using Aspect of the Fox. Using certain toys and mounting up are two such things that I can think of off the top of my head (and the main thing I used it for since I wasn’t on the raiding scene when it got removed), but I’m sure there are more applications that could provide benefits to hunters that fit within their class fantasy.

Every class has something about it that makes it special. Hunters “something special” is that they have nothing really special about them. Thanks to Warlocks and Mages, our pets aren’t special. Surv hunters are a poor-man’s warrior. Pretty much every class has some sort of damage mitigation or self-heal so it’s not like Aspect of the Turtle + Exhilaration sets them apart from the rest.

If anything Aspect of the Fox should have just been nerfed so that it no longer applied a raid-wide buff instead of being removed. I felt that way at the time and I still feel that way, hence me asking for it back now that hunter aspects no longer provide raid-wide benefits.
