So, for months we waited for Regeneratin’ to be nerfed. The devs told us they were working on it. And finally, at the end of February, we had it. Not only was it being changed from a 1.5 Minute Cooldown to 2.5 Minute Cooldown, the heal was going to start out slow and end with a larger heal, meaning in order to get a decent amount of the heal, the Zandalari had to channel for a decent amount of time. Now, you might ask, what are you talking about, “un-nerf”? Well, there’s two versions of the racial in the datafiles. Strange, right? Especially for an Allied Race. Especially since this doesn’t exist for any other Allied Race, and both instances were created on the same day.
HERE’S the version of the Racial, that was pushed to the PTR just a couple weeks before 8.1.5 went live, with the healing component being slowed down: (This is not tied to any creature in the game to my knowledge, it is sitting there in dead space)
Whereas here’s the semi-nerfed version (the cooldown increase, but not the healing changes) that was pushed to live without any statement from Blizzard, despite them telling us previously they were still going over the “numbers” on the racial.
What this means, in essence? There’s a good chance that the intended “balance” of the racial never made it to live. It’s also possible they pushed the racial to the PTR and realized it may be a bit too much of a nerf, but at the same time, the lack of communication on this front is causing an issue here.
Because now we’re sitting here, with Regeneratin’ Live with a 2.5 Minute Cooldown giving Zandalari a 20% heal per tic (which, despite complaints is not as easy to interrupt as they claim), while Alliance still have Gift of the Naaru, which heals for 25% over the entire duration, on a 3 minute cooldown.
Why is it Horde can heal for almost as much as the ENTIRE DURATION of Gift of the Naaru in a single TIC, but have a SHORTER COOLDOWN? I understand Gift can be cast on others, but Regeneratin’ can also heal for 100% of their health, and if you’re a paladin, you can bubble and ensure that.
At this rate, Gift of the Naaru needs like a 30 second cooldown to compete. Blizzard, please reconsider fixing Regeneratin’ and look into putting the speed of the heal back into a “Start out slow and gets stronger” approach.
