So, we gonna talk about how Blizzard "Un-Nerfed" the Zandalari Regeneratin' Racial?

So, for months we waited for Regeneratin’ to be nerfed. The devs told us they were working on it. And finally, at the end of February, we had it. Not only was it being changed from a 1.5 Minute Cooldown to 2.5 Minute Cooldown, the heal was going to start out slow and end with a larger heal, meaning in order to get a decent amount of the heal, the Zandalari had to channel for a decent amount of time. (Source at Bottom to separate links)

Now, you might ask, what are you talking about, “un-nerf”? Well, there’s two versions of the racial in the datafiles. Strange, right? Especially for an Allied Race. Especially since this doesn’t exist for any other Allied Race, and both instances were created on the same day.

HERE’S the version of the Racial, that was pushed to the PTR just a couple weeks before 8.1.5 went live, with the healing component being slowed down: (This is not tied to any creature in the game to my knowledge, it is sitting there in dead space)

Whereas here’s the semi-nerfed version (the cooldown increase, but not the healing changes) that was pushed to live without any statement from Blizzard, despite them telling us previously they were still going over the “numbers” on the racial.

What this means, in essence? There’s a good chance that the intended “balance” of the racial never made it to live. It’s also possible they pushed the racial to the PTR and realized it may be a bit too much of a nerf, but at the same time, the lack of communication on this front is causing an issue here.

Because now we’re sitting here, with Regeneratin’ Live with a 2.5 Minute Cooldown giving Zandalari a 20% heal per tic (which, despite complaints is not as easy to interrupt as they claim), while Alliance still have Gift of the Naaru, which heals for 25% over the entire duration, on a 3 minute cooldown.

Why is it Horde can heal for almost as much as the ENTIRE DURATION of Gift of the Naaru in a single TIC, but have a SHORTER COOLDOWN? I understand Gift can be cast on others, but Regeneratin’ can also heal for 100% of their health, and if you’re a paladin, you can bubble and ensure that.

At this rate, Gift of the Naaru needs like a 30 second cooldown to compete. Blizzard, please reconsider fixing Regeneratin’ and look into putting the speed of the heal back into a “Start out slow and gets stronger” approach.

Communication still up to it’s BFA standard, it seems.

Yeah, and they should use your model when doing so.

so why is zul’jins ability from hots (a jungle troll) the racial for the zandalari trolls?

Draenei here happy with my Naaru in comparison. I love putting Naaru on someone desperately in need of a heal as a Warrior.

dang flabbit thier racial is just TOO GOOD

pushes glasses up with his finger Actually, Zul’jin was a forest troll. Anyway, it’s just because regeneration has been a troll trait since Warcraft 2 back in 1994. This version of it was inspired by that, though.

I’ve been bamboozled!

I actually forgot that forest trolls was a different thing from jungle trolls.

If you want to talk about racials, some races still have bleh racials. Such as Nightborne.

No racial is going to have a counterpart on the enemy faction. Just take it for what it is. I still miss my arcane torrent silence, and apparently it became only a problem when it came to the stupid mythic dungeon tournaments. Okay since 2006, hit OP 12 years later.

I haven’t because since Vanilla, I’ve wanted to make one of the Horde Revantusk forest trolls as a toon! Someday… someday…

Oh look its the same people that complain about Alliance complaining about OP racials but also complain why the Alliance is competitively dead.

Well this is why.
You want good racials? Join the Horde.
Then we go back to the early months and complain why Alliance doesn’t turn on Warmode and refuses to play with the Horde.

Zul’jin is a Forest Troll not a jungle Troll.

And all trolls have incredible regeneration lore wise. Gameplay wise they just didn’t want to give the zandalari the same racial as the Darkspear, but they didn’t want to just ignore the iconic troll feature altogether.

hey mon… I mean it shows me dey way am I air to da trone?

Why would they nerf a mediocre racial?

It’s honestly much worse than I could’ve expected from a PvE standpoint. In raids I rarely find myself in a position where I can use it properly because my healer has either already got me covered or I’m taking so much damage that it’s immediatly interrupted

Can’t speak to PvP, but for PvE it’s pretty tame as a dps

Oh please, when EMFH was top dog, every Horde cried like there was no tommorow.

mediocre? its probably one of the best in the game tbh. since its a channel, you dont need the whole thing to go off to benefit.

Unless they fix it, all the top arena teams are gonna be zandalari and bait chances to heal. it’ll be a huge part of the meta.
