I was reading Azeroth Myths and Folklore and I read the Vereesa story. spoilers for book In the story, Vereesa goes to the maw to rescue Sylvanas’ soul which she finds. However it’s only a piece of her soul, a kind and warm part of it. She tries to escape with it but the Jailer stops her and takes it back.
Now this was all going on while Sylvanas was being dragged around by Arthas as a Banshee. So Sylvanas’ soul that we’ve interacted with since WC3 is basically her evil and angry side only? Seems like a huge Retcon.
Feels less like a retcon and more like an expansion on WC3’s lore about Frostmourne affecting souls… given the blade/Helm of domination’s purpose it makes sense that some part of a person is removed from the Lich King host… that’s what the Lich King was/is…an amalgam hivemind of all the past hosts’ evil halves, like a diabolical Avatar from Last airbender, but EVIL.
I mean, we’ve seen since the beginning that when people come back in undeath, they come back “different”. It’s especially underlined in the quests in Legion to do with the resurrected Dark Rangers and other Elves in the wake of the destruction of Teldrassil, that only the dark, vengeful parts of them came back.
I’d be kinda alright with it. But other source material says that Sylvanas was a douchebag when she was alive as well so it’s really hard for me to suspend my disbelief on that.
Apparently she “dreamed it”, yea that’s apparently how she went to the maw. I wish they’d kill all the windrunners personally, getting really tired of them.
We are fighting the Real Banshee Queen at the least even if not the Real Ranger General of Silver Moon…
Everyone personally offed by Arthas has been split in two as has anyone that the Banshee Queen ordered her Nine Prime Valkyr to raise(as they struck a bargain with the Jailer)!
Incidentally Uther’s more negative side was able to repent when he noticed the Evil of Lysonia so the Banshee Queen is just as capable of making Good Choices as the Ranger General herself!
As for what half Frostmourne took from Arthas: the negative half was what Frostmourne took as the Half still inside the Body tried to stop it from attacking the Paladins and tried to direct it away from the path it took.
Unfortunately the Body was alive not dead and thus had enough freedom to rebel against the Half-Soul which was too weak to control a Living Body with a Functioning Brain.
Once the Body noticed the Soul-half getting in the way it shoved said Soul-Half into Frostmourne on the spot.
If you are wondering which Soul-half was thrown into the Maw by Uther: most likely the Half that didn’t take the form of a Kid which got pulled into the Maw by default.
Agreed. All Garithos did was order the Forsaken out of his City which is a fair demand as they could seize other domains for themselves.
He is capable of negotiation so having him and his Humans be kept alive so that the Forsaken could potentially have someone who can help deal with the Scourge would work to the Forsaken’s benefit!
Personally, I don’t think that’s too far out of character for her even if she were alive. She was always fairly Machiavellian even before she died. Just as when she sacrificed her own troops without hesitation to slow the Scourge, the end of securing her realm would easily justify the means of killing him off.
All three Windrunner sisters have been kinda cringe ever since Knaak introduced Vereesa’s Human Male fetish, which has since been extended to all three.
One I could overlook. But all three having the same fetish? That’s just weird.
If they try to say Frostmourne takes the good out of people I that’s going to be stupid as hell, literally an insult to the ebon blade and the forsaken both who have been known for wanting to return to their families and protect them even in undeath after breaking free from the lich king.
