So wait a minute, am I really reading this correctly? Instead of new quality content, we’re just getting old content that the vast vast majority of players didn’t care about, removed or renamed? Everyone can say what they want, but the best time for WoW was between Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King. And now instead of looking at what made the game great during that time, you’re all just removing and renaming everything from that era?
If the goal is to score virtue points and cater to the tiny of minority of people who like to get offended over a fantasy world you’ll find that it isn’t going to attract players, it’s going to alienate and drive them away. The majority of people don’t really care about any of this, and the people who do probably aren’t playing the game anyway.
Getting rid of references to people who are gross human beings is one thing, getting rid of all suggestive language, changing pictures, and removing movie references, is going way too far.
The lack of content this patch is more likely because they’re devoting more resources to 9.2 I’d imagine. It doesn’t take much effort to delete some lines of text or change a name and definitely wouldn’t require every faction of the dev teams to do.
9.1.5’s main feature is more or less fixing the SL system issues. It’s only a minor patch.
If you bring this up to any of the devs that are on Twitter, they will just block you. They don’t want ANY criticism, they just want an echochamber of like minded individuals.
I was reading something last night about changes from notes seen only by demonology locks—where the development team signed their names. Now being changed to some kind of generic, demonic translations.
Kind of a shame. Understandable that they want to detach from former employees…but these people loved their product so much that they wanted to put their names on it! There is a complete lack of passion in SL, imo.
Yup. Removing references and idols to abusive people is fine, but the developers went crazy with the censorship. At most there’s a couple jokes that I get removing
Instead they’ve purged things that are total non-issues, and its upset a lot of players.
The regurgitated old content and a lack of new content just feels like salt in the wound to be honest. I like old content… but poor timing blizz.
Because they’re a bunch of pansies that don’t understand the purpose of objective criticism. This clown show is only going to get worse because of that fact and they’re ultimately going to kill this game all on their own.
It’s a .5 patch. .5 patches don’t usually offer much of any content as far as storytelling, major quest lines, or new zones. They’re mainly used by blizz to balance the multitude of systems they use that nobody asked for, balance specs, and maybe sprinkle in a few nice things.
Ultimately.5 patches are just adjustment/balance patches. The problem is blizz is well behind their usual patch release cadence. 9.1 should have dropped back in early April with 9.1.5 dropping in late July followed by a 9.2 in late oct early November. Unfortunately 9.2 probably won’t drop until late Jan 2022 or even February.
Things have been rough lately but this is pretty much the same as every other .1.5 patch ever. Mostly QoL stuff and maybe some additions to currently existing features. If anyone was expecting completely new content like a new dungeon or raid or something then they were setting themselves up for disappointment. The game needs new content, don’t misunderstand, but this was never going to be the patch to make it happen. Personally, I’ll be happy finally leveling alts.
They are going deep enough into things, to go all the way back to BC and even into things that are in a made up demon language that only one class can read. That isn’t a quick thing to do. It takes time to do stuff like that, because it’s not just one person making a quick change. It’s someone seeing it, bringing it up to a supervisor or group, then someone making the decision, then they finally go and make the change probably a week later.
I find it really hard to see how THAT is on even close to the same priority level as 9.1.5.
It’s usually best to follow what they’ve done in the past so we know where they are headed and what to expect.
IF we have a 9.2 (pretty much have to to bring this expansion to a close) then we’ll see some more beefy content then. Obviously the game needs content with more meat on its bones right now, but they are doing what they’ve done in the past.
Sadly, the bulk of this next patch is fixing mistakes that should have never happened at all. I’d argue that what we have now is a glorified beta. 9.1.5 will fix that. Mostly. Then we’ll hopefully be moving on to bigger and better things.
