I’ve seen some Ranger NPCs in their starting zone, seemingly acting like scouts.
But I have to wonder, how being Void and having Nature magic actually works.

I imagine that niche wise they are more of shadowy trackers, who can travel quickly through the woods, and quite lethal from the shadows.
Yes, it does overlap A LOT with the NE fantasy in that manner, but Umbral Rangers I imagine use their void portals to move quickly.

I think ranger is a pretty broad term. They’re fond of nature but I don’t think it necessarily means they wield any kind of nature magic. From an RP point of view though you could think of them trading things like natural camouflages and creeping through shrubbery for cloaks of shadow and popping through void portals.

That’s how I pictured it, though I suppose most my thoughts are how do pets work?
You’d think most animals on instinct would avoid purple glowly evil space magic man.
It works just fine, you know Void Elf being the Master Race has it’s perks and all
You could always stick with your void lizard starting pet.
What about animals should naturally run from them and undead. Hunter in wow have some interesting characterizations. I can see insect to lesser point. Not actual animals.

I mean their starting pet is a Riftstalker. Interestingly tho, we haven’t quite seen the Void as Anathema of nature; flesh, living things, are very vulnerable to the Void, to the point you can call it a dark affinity.
We can even get wild and imply that the void’s whispers could make some beasts more docile.

I suppose another easy justification, since Void Elves were just normal Elves at one point, they already had a pretty strong bond with a pet. I like the whisper idea too.
Hopefully with all this void and death stuff going on, Hunters get some more wildly designed pets in coming xpacs.

Right, so I just had a conversation with my pet Loque, don’t ask me how this works I have yet to figure it out myself … but he said that since he’s the Master race of the animal kingdom that’s it’s natural for him to work with Void elves since they are the Master Race plus he loves the popcorn I give him!
Technically Humans, Dwarves, and Gnomes (and all their derivations) wouldn’t exist without Old God (read:void) manipulations, or at least not in their current fleshy form.
Exactly, Void is life, just a form of it we see as corrupt, yet most of the azeroth sentient races exist because of the Void meddling, the curse of flesh.
It might not give VE’s an advantage, but maybe it shouldn’t give them a hindrance. I wouldn’t say Void Elves are anti-natural in the way Undeath and Fel are.
My void elf warrior infuses her blade with the entropic magic of the void or so I consider it.
I think it’s quite a natural thing for void elves hunters.
If they were researchers shunned from Blood Elven society due to delving into void magic, it makes sense that some would have been rangers interested in animal companions.
I think it would be sick if your animal could undergo the void transformation that you do though. Would really cement the theme.
