They’re one of the best M+ specs at the moment but aren’t always taken because MM Hunter and Fire Mage are ranged (better this expansion currently) and offer a lot for keys, and Rogues offer a huge amount more in M+ because Shroud is literally mandatory for extremely good groups (and they can shut down entire packs with their CC and offer excellent damage as well).
In raids the literal only reason why Unholy isn’t the best spec in the game on literally every fight is because some fights favor different damage profiles (shorter-CD burst on Sludgefist, spread-out uncapped AoE for those sorts of fights, and multidotting on Huntsman) and the specs that excel on those fights are also extremely top-tier specs that are just slightly worse than Unholy DK on the fights that Unholy is top-tier for. Unholy is the most consistent because it is better for more fights and is not far behind on the fights it isn’t the literal best.
Tell that to the guilds pushing World First who are still bringing them on every fight because they’re still top-tier DPS-wise while offering Grip and AMZ.
The setup that makes Arcane this good on this specific fight is a borderline exploit. You Touch of the Magi a Shade of Barghast with an enormous damage taken multiplier by being CC’d for almost a minute and nobody else switches to it, and the Touch of the Magi that explodes and cleaves onto the boss hits for several hundreds of thousands because of how that ability works. The spec is very mediocre outside of this extremely hard-to-set-up, extremely niche setup that probably shouldn’t even work the way it does.

if you think there is massive class stacking in the top guilds of unholies, you should probably check the rosters
if you think unholy didnt get nerfed to the ground, you should check sims instead of checking your ego after an unholy crushes your arcane mage dps in an m+ because he actually knows what a parse even is

Theorycrafters in the DK discord said it was only ~6% for most people, that’s pretty small when you’re 20% ahead of most.
Every top guild has at least one UH in the raid, many have multiple.
There is an UH in the top 50 of literally every fight on WCL (including fights where they are in no way favored) and in most cases are the most common class in that top 50.
Averaging the performance across the entire raid they are ahead of literally every other spec by at least around 7%.
Maybe you should stop looking at sims and your anecdote and look at the actual empirical evidence.

Dude, Unholy DPS is at the top of the raid chart. Accept it.
Honesty, i feel like uh dk could use a damage nerf, but a survivability buff, especially for pvp and that would probably balance them out pretty nicely.
Your flat out wrong, on multiple points. Unholy DK’s are abit overturned don’t need a big nerf, but they do need another one.

Its not that they are top thats the problem. Its that they are top by a large margin. So large that mythic guilds are stacking them like mofos. Three or four UH DK every kill, and they are damn near the top dps.
Sorry but when multiple classes/specs are not taken to mythic but FOUR of the same spec are, yea its OP. DK offer dps, grip and AMZ and THATS IT. If their dps wasn’t OP they wouldn’t be there.
