So uh, you're making the duck disguises account wide right?

No one needs to do anything in WOW. Collecting is part of the fun. You collect mounts. You collect mogs. People want to collect the duck colors.

same reason people collect anything. Stamps or baseball cards or snow globes or post cards. it’s fun. you dont have to agree with or understand what other people enjoy. Let it go.

to kill alliance and make stupid youtube videos.

Idk here’s a reason…

Perhaps it’s to not require to have 5 alts to complete it???

Regardless of they make it account wide, great. If not, shut the hell up.

This is why the devs don’t respect us.

Cuz of petty dumb crap like this.

Blizzard: We’ve changed, after SL we learned our lessons, we’ll care more about you the players!

Also Blizzard:

  • Trading Post constantly runs at a deficit to the amount of tender you can earn each month and overall by design to lock players in and punish anyone who unsubs for even a month. (Not even a 10 items you get to pick 9 situation, lately it’s pick half, a little over half)

  • Insert unwanted game mode called Plunderstorm, make it unwanted non-MMORPG-like battle royale with awful returns for non-pvpers on the pve mobs. Make it so players don’t use their existing characters or abilities and classes they know. Make it a paradise for the type of griefers who must make up a big chunk of the dev team but a small chunk of the overall playerbase.

  • Tie exclusive transmogs to it and make it a limited time event.

  • To up the ante even more and punish players and put the lie to “no one’s making you play it” insert two rewards of trader’s tenders at 250 and 500 late in the renown climb meaning anyone who wants to get a little closer to not being so far behind on tenders HAS to do it. They can not do it in the same way they can not level and not get gear and not complete trading post tasks and play the game by sitting in Goldshire on a level 1 character staring at a wall. Not much of a game. Not fair to PvErs.

  • Add a new 1% drop mount to a 1 week holiday (even less time than love is in the air which was at least 14 days) boss.

  • Add toy that relies on collecting appearances, lock appearances to per character (with zero for characters who don’t do the holiday quest chain) and on top of that limit it to one appearance earnable per character per yearly event meaning players have to do it for 6 years to get all the looks and if they want the privilege of using all the looks on multiple characters they have to do so on all of them (so if I do this diligently but roll a new character in 3 years, guess what? That character is still locked out of the looks until I farm it for an additional 3 years beyond the first 6)

But they’ve changed, they’ve totally changed since SL. Yeah for the worst. This is now worse, more abusive, more FOMO-ish design than the game has been at any point including in the worst parts of SL.

It doesn’t matter if tomorrow they fix all these gripes (they won’t), they will have only done so in response to player negative feedback when what we want to see is change and sense not to do these things in the first place.

I can always count on you, thanks :relieved:

Please don’t make this a big thing about all your pet complaints and start arguing about plunderstorm or trading post again. This is a simple silly thread about a simple silly toy that some people think would be more fun if they could collect different colors for.

I won’t address each point but saying the game is “worse, more abusive” now is just objectively untrue.

It isn’t about the toy or the colors. It’s just a blatant and lazy mechanic to artificially extend player engagement with this event both with extending this collection to 6 years time and having a 1% mount drop during a week long event. It makes it pretty clear that engagement metrics are the only thing Blizzard is concerned with now, not how fun people are having with the game. If 5 duck colors are so unimportant than letting us earn all 6 in one week to use across our account isn’t going to break the game.

I think “blizzard only cares about playtime metrics” is a deeply silly argument. The team is full of passionate people who love WoW and want to make a great game.

But sometimes you goof. I think the toy would be better if the colors were account wide. That’s all.

I actually disagree here. I really don’t think ANYONE at blizzard thought anyone would care about this.

You’re really stating in your comment that they had a meeting and someone said that they would keep people playing by… adding colors to a EASTER seasonal toy?

It’s not a lazy mechanic. It’s an overlooked mechanic that doesn’t matter about a toy that doesn’t matter in an event most people don’t care bout.

I agree with most of this. I just think, “hey it turns out some people want it, let them have their fun” And I’m among “some people”

some people want, let them have it.

imagine if this applied to the enire player base. how bad would this game be? you can’t really be that naive can you?
