So uh, shamans in PvP..?

Who can legitimately kill these guys who are running Earth Shield + Riptide?

They don’t seem to die as a rogue at least. I’ll feel better if there’s a class that farms them

Remember, most of them are Orcs to the “just stun them bro” crowd

Their counter is Aff Warlock, which I don’t really see that many in BGs. It’s just Meta mongs running around, who are also unkillable. They probably won’t kill me, but I’m not killing them either.

Resto shaman don’t need to be nerfed…

They were never OP, they are like the red headed stepchild shaman spec.

Resto was always a free kill until they get Earthshield, but ES+Riptide is pretty bonkers.

Its not resto specific. ES + Riptide can be used by any spec.

I saw a DW enh with ES, Riptide and Lavaburst walk into 2 people after I gave up trying to kill him and ran at 2% hp, kill them all and he had 60% hp afterwards so here I am trying to figure out if that nonsense has at least has one hard matchup because this guy just bodied 2 players EASILY and would of been a third had I not been a rogue lol

I have no problem with Rshams, I have a problem with the healing focused runes making the 2 dps spec practically unkillable in a fair fight in PvP. It shouldn’t take 2-3 guys to kill one DPS

Dual Wield Enhance can’t run WOTE, stun them, use evasion so he can’t prove maelstrom weapon…

Never said they were using WoE. Its Riptide + Earth Shield.

The problem is verly clearly ES + Riptide are tuned in a way to make Resto competitive in PvE with Priest, but DPS specs can use those runes too and because they are tuned so highly, fighting a DPS shaman running these 2 runes is like fighting 2 players at once because they have absurd amounts of healing backing them as well for practically no mana.

If I saw it becoming a recurring thing then yeah. Enhance will get like 12 casts of riptide if they use nothing else. That is not a cheap spell. Earth shield competes with good runes and it also wipes out other shields further reducing damage.

No way I’m attempting to face tank a DW Shaman, I would try to kite them and backstab them.
If they can run 2 healing runes they must be gimping themselves somewhere else. Would have to kite them, I don’t want them to regen mana.

It’s not as big of a gimping as you may think… Riptide sacrifices one of the new lightning shield runes, which, after the recent nerf to the good one, is not a big loss. Earth Shield replaces either some mana restore or some damage mitigation - I’m not sure if the healing from ES is better than the damage reduction/increased health pool from the tanking rune, but that one would only be usable for shield-wearing shaman, which enhancement DPS wouldn’t be using anyway.

They could reduce the base healing on those spells and give bonus scaling from deep resto talents to bring them back to where they are now, so only resto can get the full benefit.

This rune combination is my go-to for survivability in WPvP.

I remain skeptical of it until I see usage of the combo more popularized

All our best ones already got nerfed so we have to theory craft other ways to be competitive in pvp. Earth shield + dual weilding double WF with riptide is the new way of earth dual shammy.

the problem that your horde mains dont understand, is that the burst shamans do is simply way too high, and even with then nerfs, they still have insane survivability. Earth shield… Riptide… insane lesser healing wave heals, paladins cannot even get a heal off when fighting a shaman because of earth shock oppressiveness, and even if we were to get a quick heal off, its nothing. Paladins only can heal if somehow one of the two stuns land, grounding totem isnt dropped at the most obvious time (to allow said stuns to work), and even then the heals are weak

Shamans have way too much power, they cant have 3k burst value and elite mob survivability. it has to be one or the other, meanwhile paladins dont get either of that, just um… Cooldowns that might allow us to win a tight situation at best.
