Any professions at this point are for fun and enjoyment. In Dragonflight it took too long to make something worthwhile, and often I would specialize into say, swords and then find I need a dagger, but have zero points towards making a dagger.
It would frequently cost more to craft flasks or pots than it was to simply buy them.
Once the expansion gets going, Farming herbs and ore becomes a massive time sink for less and less gold as time goes on.
I’m sure for some people who really love professions, and are willing to devote huge amounts of time offering their services in chat, they can be profitable.
But for me, I want to play the game when I get home from work.
Prob stick with what each character has already. No reason to change because after tuning and balancing in first raid tier we won’t know what craft is going to have the lariat recipe (assuming there is one) for the first 12 months.
I might not craft anymore even though I have hit max level on all crafters for multiple expansions.
Currently, this is the worst version of crafting in 20 years. We patch today, but I dont have high hopes due to the lack of communication this beta, which also has been the worst in 20 years.
I’ll level this character first. She has leatherworking, skinning, fishing, and cooking. So those are the ones I will work on first. May be the only ones I work on. Don’t know at this point.
My characters have professions in logical pairs that seemed to fit thematically for the most part (like LW/skinning, BS/mining, Tailoring/Enchanting, etc.), are never dual crafters, and I’ve never changed professions on them. I used to max level all of my characters’ profs each xpac, so many of them have patterns and such from Classic through at least WoD. I liked leveling profs while I leveled characters, and didn’t consider a character “done” until the profs were maxed.
I despise the changes to professions in DF, and with nothing changing for the better in TWW, I don’t see myself worrying about any of it overmuch. I checked out of it all pretty early on in DF because I hated all of it.
In TWW, I will level alchemy first like I always do, and then probably ignore the rest of it.
None, really. I also do not care for the new crafting system and will ignore it for the most part. I’ll keep tailoring and enchanting on my main because she has some old, rare recipes, but my alts will all be gatherers to sell the mats on the AH.
I’ll be doing every profession eventually, but I’m going to focus on the professions that craft gear I need first. That probably means Leatherworking and Jewelcrafting.
I really distained Professions in DF. I started off with my Hunter for Leatherworking and Skinning in Season 3 (I totally missed S1 & 2). As soon as I saw the item levels to craft the items and while going through WQ’s, Events, LFR, M+ and whatnot, I surpassed the item level expectations to craft any useable gear, though I did skin and craft up to Level 55 then I hit a brick wall from further increasing my profession levels.
Furthermore, only leveling to 50 and to obtain maximum recipe patterns via trainer, while searching for other patterns “how” to upgrade to Level 100, I lost interest to go any further at that point. There was no reason to. Unlike when I got into professions in TBC and Wrath of the Lich King, I was highly INVESTED in leveling up my professions because it meant something to include progressing your characters gear from Level 1 to Level 75 and actually using it as you’ve progressed every 5 or 10 levels, not meet half way to Level 50 like in DF and all stop because you either need to keep crafting with absurd amounts of materials to get to Level 100 to include Crafting Orders to meet maximum level for that profession.
Hopefully, with the changes to professions in TWW holds value. I would hope there’s more patterns past Level 50 for players to progress and upgrade their gear as they level up to Level 80 and thereafter still have value to level up professions going forward.
