Why can’t Dracthyr choose any playable race from Azeroth as their visage form?
Why can’t Dracthyr use transmog for their entire armor set instead of only individual pieces?
We already have worgens, taurens, and other races with unique models and features — tails, paws, horns, elongated animal-like proportions, etc. Their armor works with those models just fine. So what’s actually preventing Dracthyr from having full-body transmog? What’s the technical difficulty here?
Because that doesn’t fit Blizzard’s vision for them. They’re meant to stand out not just be all the other races with horns.
Because Blizzard didn’t want to do the work to make all armour existing for the 20yrs leading up to Dracthyr release to work on Dracthyr. Some of the customizations also wouldn’t work if Dracthyr had armour on such as spikes on the arms and legs. The armour would probably also end up simply looking awful on the Dracthyr model like a lot of armour does on Pandaren or Vulpera.
Visage form was their solution to not having to adapt transmog to the Dracthyr skeleton.
Because they have additional customizations. Of course players would probably not care much if they just got any viasage.
Because Blizz has decided it’s not worth the time and effort. And it is a lot of effort to make previous models fit a new one. Of course if they took the option I presented in 1 this wouldn’t be an issue. But Blizz wants shiny and new because it’s easier to justify to the money guys.
Looking at Data for Azeroth, total combined Dracthyr population is 4.6%.
Some of those Dracs are gonna like housing. Certainly more than 4.6% of the player base does. And three expansions in, a lot of Drac players are just mildly annoyed but playing.
There is some sort of major player customization overhaul coming. Not sure when. Possibly not until TLT or later. But I wouldn’t expect a fix until then, as it may resolve their reason for not embracing the solution to #1.
Just to put this number into perspective.
Orcs are 6.4%
Dwarves are 5.5%
Tauren are 4.4%
Forsaken, 3%
Gnomes, 1.7%
Goblins, 1.3%
Pandaren are a combined 2.5%
The way you conveyed the data was completely dishonest. Dracs have a combined popularity of 4.6% and them being one of the newest races makes this number pretty significant.
Heck haranir are already almost 2%.
Its not annoying to want to actually mog your race beyond shoulders, a tabard and a belt or be something other than a male belf or female human.
There was an interview with Maria Hamilton around the Midnight launch talking about it. There’s also been a lot of little chatter. With TLT coming and the end of all the major present story it is the kind of thing they’ll have to drop to keep interest up.
Yeah I’m really hoping for a lot more customization options for all the faction locked races. The neutral ones, with the exception of maybe Pandaren, don’t really need anything else.
Wouldn’t be opposed to more armour options for Dracthyr but I highly doubt they’ll get full transmog support for their Draconic forms.
Blizz really needs to stop with these unforced errors. While I do often say they should fail faster with some changes where they get decision paralysis, that also means fixing the fails. Dracs didn’t work as implemented. It was a dumb decision as it stood. Either add more customization, devote resources to at least give them transmog going forward, give them more universal visage forms, or some combination of them all. We’re three expansions into this problem and they are still tripping over themselves.
They are a bunch of clones, I was not even ok with them being opened to more classes.
That’s the price you pay for being able to fly. You really think it would be easy to fly with roughly 45 to 65 pounds (20 to 30 kg) of metal + your weapon(s) + what’s in all your bags?
Because thier mixed-breed appearance is supposed to reflect how the Dracthyr race as a whole see themselves (not he we as players think OUR dracthyr should see themselves)… they don’t feel like they belong… they see similarities in others but nothing feels like a whole.
Because laziness…
The body mesh unwraps differently from other races… so their textures use a completely different UV map than everyone else… most races have very minor differences in UV map that just results in slight wonkiness of textures at neck, waist, and feet… the dracthyr however have an entirely different UV map, their model wasn’t actually made for player characters to begin with… it’s possible that Dracthyr were not originally intended to be. Playable race and might have initially been intended as just a form change or just NPCs early on in development.
That said… the dracthyr have customization options that Blizzard COULD utilize to allow for more transmog compatibility… gloves and boots should just work, they will just look odd until blizzard starts making Dracthyr specific models for them like they eventually did for Worgen and Tauren… legs wont work at all asside from just Geoset items and skirts, not unless blizzard adds something to make them work on dracthyr… bodies would work with the dracthyr Tabard (both actual tabards and their customization item called Tabard) as it has the same UV map as player characters. Helmets again… will work out of the box and just look odd like they did on Worgen an Tauren for ages…
I think they do, in the sense it’s on their list. It’s just way down because it got pushed off and all solutions before a major overhaul would be antithetical to the design philosophy they’ve chosen.
