Green dad finished buying cigarettes from the gas station, so he’s back now. What’s he been doing? Probably gonna get the same treatment Jaina did when she, you know, ditched the world to fight against the literal army of endless demons because red team bad, where we get a comic explaining he was doing something of import, like a spirit quest or something to be chill with the Elements again or something.
Just don’t question it. Take it as the writers being self aware enough they know trying to add some big, deep purpose would only harm what little there is left.
“But Sylvanas already burned down the world tree and All the other horrible stuff”
“…I should mention I do not actually have a way to tell the time, so this was my best guess.”
Well unless the majority of the Horde population just had a memory wipe during Legion, I’m pretty sure they would’ve been clamouring for any kind of leadership during what could be seen as the end of the world event. Especially since it was with Thralls blessing after Siege that Voljin became warchief and not some voodoo induced BS vision crap which looks as legitimate as wet toilet paper these days.
If I was just your average Horde flunkie I’d be downright pissed that Thrall suddenly chooses now to start posturing his moral code through action when - Azeroth was on the verge of being overrun by the Legion when the Horde needed him the most shaman or not.
I mean…we’ve already just raided one of Sylvanases own ships, killing her guard and freeing Baine so…why the hell do we need Thrall? Horde seems to be doing just fine, despite what that fake Shaw says and what Nathanos thinks.
A defeatist attitude after we burnt the biggest fricken tree of the world down just doesn’t do anything for morale…
you sound bitter about something. i hope everything is okay. that said, there is a reason why and it was because of his voice actor. there is only one person who voices thrall and that is his creator, or, the creator of most of wow. it might seem like poorly written story line, him just disappearing and not returning for pretty big events but that is because metzen had to leave. his mental health was bad and then went for surgery on his back. thats why thralls part with voljins urn was cut. please dont hate on the character for something that couldnt be avoided. i would rather they do that than kill the character off for good, in some poor attempt to justify his actions.
So for reasons that had no bearing on the games experience, Thralls character was marginalized and pushed aside because someone or somebody deemed it too time consuming or otherwise insufficient to provide critical information that would later have a major impact on the story in BFA…
Ridiculous. Even if what you say is verified to be true it still stands to reason that by evidence of what we’ve been presented so far as a story based experience that its development is being ran like a circus.
I say we just play the game and try to enjoy it rather than wasting our times bickering over Thrall’s hamfisted(get it? orcs are porks!) return by Metzen’s request.
Thrall, for worst rather than better, is back.
Let us pray he lost his Green Messiah aspect this time.
but what i am saying is true. its not a -what if-. they dont owe you anything though, when it comes to someone elses health. metzen didnt force anyone to write poorly. they could have kept garrosh honorable when he took over but they made the choice to go all -old god lunatic- with him. but that is the reason thrall was written out and remained out. because metzen was out. he came in now and then to do voice work, until he had back surgery. we dont even know if he knows most of whats happened. he created thrall, along with orcs in general and many other things. its only fair to him that thrall take leave like he did. now that you know, i hope that you can get rid of some of that bitterness.
Regardless it is still a vital piece that breaks the continuity of the story that we’ve been presented with.
I expect nothing, nor hold high hopes that the mess that been created can be fixed with a satisfying ending that will make a lick of sense when flying gallons can blast open fortified walls and Kings are slaughtered out of the convivence for plot points that go nowhere.
Although I can totally accept the mental health stuff, the community was pretty brutal on him for awhile, there was nothing really stopping them from having Thrall just not be voice acted and use the speech bubbles. Wouldn’t have been A+ cause Metzen’s an iconic voice, but wouldn’t have sacked the story for it.
Idk about the mental health part, but Thrall was in fact side lined because of medical reasons. Something about his back put him out of commission until later than planned.
Same thing happened to Maiev. She initially had a bigger role in Legion but her Voice Lady had some throat problems. Rather than cast a replacement, they tweaked the story.
Thrall’s role seems to be more fundamental to the Horde than Maiev is to the Alliance, though. Which makes me hope he goes away. How can Blizzard talk about the Horde evolving when it simply rotates Thrall in every time the Horde has a problem.
it really doesnt. if there was no justifiable reason for it then i could understand the frustration. but unless you are saying that thrall should have stayed in service, even with metzen gone, it was going to happen anyway. nobody is immortal and anyone can get hurt. sylvanas voice actor or anyone else. and thrall staying in service without metzen, is a huge NO. thrall belongs to him, not just in voice but as his creator. thats not fair to suggest. to either one of them. the story in bfa sucks i know but thrall is ONE exception here. but the bright side is that if thrall is back then that means metzen is back too. i hope its full time.
