So this is why WoW is the way it is now: Plunderstorm, MoP remix, etc etc

Microsoft said “go wild”

Microsoft tends to be fairly hands-off as far as development goes unless a studio is really struggling. It’s the microtransactions that they tend to get involved with, and we’ve seen plenty of that recently.

For some reason I can’t update my first post so here’s the source:

there’s something fun for every playstyle
This is a good thing

There’s nothing wrong with having different modes to keep people busy while they wait for the next expansion to drop.

I don’t understand why people are getting so upset when they add new things. You don’t HAVE to participate. If you don’t like it, just go do something else :dracthyr_shrug: Other people enjoy it just fine.

They’re trying new things, and our choices are far beyond what we ever got before, while still getting regular expansion content. Seems like a solid win to me.

I mean one-game-only players aside, Warcraft as an IP is the healthiest it’s been in a long, long time. Classic Progression, SoD, and Retail are all in very healthy places. Between three healthy versions of WoW and the event servers, the 15 dollar subscription goes a long, long way.

If you’re only into retail, or only into Classic Era, sure, it might not be great for you. But Blizzard has a really smart gameplan going on right now, with them trying to unify the playerbase by making retail more like Classic and Classic more like retail, while using events to pull lapsed players back into the game.

I think that if players are so narrow minded that they only want to play one or two gameplay modes in only one version of the game, yeah, sucks to suck, not all content is going to be designed for such a bland palate. At some point, blizzard needs to choose who they’re spending their design effort on, and if you’re a very narrowly focused WoW player, they really SHOULDN’T be prioritizing you.

Yep; Blizzard is back to their old ways of trying something new instead of being pressured into reinventing the same wheel every two years.

from the ptr the mop remix was fun you had a some fun abilities like the cannon ball one and dragon riding out the gate after the intro you do

Indeed.

If I had to complain about anything, it’s that there’s too much WoW to play and not enough time to play it.

Good problem to have I suppose.
