If a good frost mage queues into melee they’re so untouchable that they have the impunity to ice block off petty CC because they know there’s no way they’ll ever die. That’s over tuned. I get it “they’re squishy”. Okay great. Unless I can press Touch of Death at 100% hp then they’re not squishy enough to justify this level of mobility. It’s leaps and bounds beyond any spec in the game to the point where even without any defensives like their ice blocks (plural) they’re still not a viable kill target for melee. They could tone down their kiting ability substantially, basically gut it, and they’d still have the best mobility in the game by a long shot.
Stay cool , karate boy
After all they’ve been through Mage deserves to be viable for a bit.
Imo, Shimmer is one of the worst things added to the game. It completely invalidates healer positioning into mages.
I never really liked shimmer. With how many tools healers have now additional to nelf it does feel a lot harder to land db poly on a good healer as just blink stun tho if not impossible.
I think the entire mobility/ disruption arms race was started because of shimmer. That’s kinda what I meant by that.
It’s been going on forever since before shimmer

What do you mean? Theres been like 3 posts a week that frost mage is unplayable because it doesnt have ring and nova and db?!
I mean. I think warrior into mage is a great example of traditional arms race / how it “should be.” Mages had the potential to play wrong and get sat on, warriors generally got kited forever. It’s a great video lol. I love how simply they always portray things.
But I think a more general look at mage without narrowing it into class interactions was simply if a mage blinked strictly for mobility / positioning it was a universal sign that mage could be swapped to in that moment until like, i guess mop or wod or whenever rdruid and mage started cycling 30s defensives. But shimmer kind of turned the page & helped define a new era of mage durability. Mage became designed around the reality that they weren’t going to break a stun with blink & part of that is ofc due to the mobility arms race. Idk. Just a really fun class interaction thats become less nuanced / more nuanced in a different way.
What about frostbolt spec though
As a hunter, I am glad you melee are afraid of something…
casters and rogues above 2k ya
I can’t even find Blink as a spell lately. It is missing
