So the server list is out. Where's RP-PvP?

https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/comments/c29vaz/granted_its_likely_not_a_final_list_but_no_rppvp/

In this reddit thread, you can see the current realmlist. It seems the list is finally getting fleshed out as the stress test opens up, but we still don’t see an RPPVP server.

Has Blizzard done any surveys or data gathering to determine demand for this? Can we get some kind of clarification? It’s been radio silence for months now, and thousands of players are in limbo wondering whether or not we’ll be able to truly recreate that classic experience we know and love, just like everyone else will get to in August.

Thanks for reading!

They announced that there won’t be one.
PVE, PVP and RP only at launch.

Maybe later they said.

There’s only 10 realms.

Giving 10% of the realms to 2% of the population is probably a stretch right now. There’s also no Oceanic realms but we’re pretty sure they’re getting them.

It wasn’t even announced officially, but was rather an off the cuff response by Ion.

Launcher shows 12 realms.

Not true, according to this interview with Omar and John they’re still considering it.

I wasn’t aware that you did a poll to find out how many people who were interested in classic were desiring a RPPVP server.
Can you link to your data?

Wouldn’t stress test be a great opportunity to actually gauge that interest and have hard data to go by? Seriously, what would be the downside of taking ONE of those PVP servers and making it a RPPVP server?

Did they lose the RPPVP server data? Did they overright that realm type and cannot spare the man hours to recreate one? Would that risk the letters being inaccurate?

Mine shows 10.

Normal Classic Realms 1,12,13,2
PVP Realms 14,15,3,4,5
RP Realm 16

What extra are you seeing?

Actually, according to surveys done on Reddit, RPPVP players are about 8%. This is more than RPPVE players.

This surprised me too, but when you consider the fact that original RPPVP servers were released late, meaning most of the RP community was already invested and situated on RPPVE, the discrepancy makes sense.

Engaged forum posters often make up a larger percentage of niches and minorities.

Do they? On what basis? It seems completely expected for Classic to cater more to the tastes of RP-PvP fans. Those are the deadest servers on BFA. Why? Because RP-PvPers quit as the game moved away from the Classic style.

CRZ, sharding and removal of world defense channel is what killed RP.

People who know they are getting what they want are far more complacent. People who are lobbying for a change are far more active. That’s not just Classic, that’s humanity in general. Minorities are far more active because they have to be, if their voice is going to be heard.

No-one is lobbying to ensure they get PVP servers.

That survey was done 7 months ago, well before the RPPVP question was even a thing.

The RP-PVP thing has been a thing for two years, since Classic was announced.

Bump for rppvp justice

Not true, the “lobbying” you’re referring to began in late March when Ion let the cat out of the bag in an interview, mentioning that no RP-PVP servers were planned.

Oh please, for god’s sake that is a stretch. Up until Ion’s offhand remark about it being “niche”, there was zero reason to believe there would not be at least one RPPVP server. In fact people laughed when the question came up every so often, with responses equating to “of course there will, why wouldn’t there be?” ion’s remark was WAAAAAAAAAYYYY after that poll was taken.

You are really stretching your troll legs on this one.

Oh look, another troll who does not understand the point of the thread.

  1. This is for the stress test, not actual classic lmfao.
  2. They already said no RP-PVP realms

Omar said they’re still looking at it.

I hope they add at least one when they put in 30-40 servers for the launch.
