So the Jailer is Anubis from Stargate

The Jailer’s references to a “design” got me thinking about Anubis from Stargate, who always talked about a “grand design” and re-making the galaxy in his image after exterminating everyone.

I went back and watched a scene I remember, and doesn’t this seem eerily similar to the Sylvanas/Jailer cutscene? Right down to “I will spare your life so that…”

Who the heck is that? Why should I care?

Going through the gates in Oribos has a Stargate effect too…

Excuse me?

EXCUSE ME?!?!??!

You sir go to your room and watch an SG-1 Marathon on either Amazon or Netflix and don’t come out until you refer to your door as the chappa’ai, and a rough estimate of how many times Daniel Jackson has died! (The number can vary depending on what you consider a “death”

:carrot:

Oof my bad it was Atlantis not SG1

It’s still Stargate so it counts.

It’s threads like this one that make coming to the forums worth all the muck one has to wade through.

He reminds me more of fat Anubis stuck in the ascended diner with Daniel Jackson.

I mean you could go a bit further. The jailer was apparently “bigger” before before being cast to the Maw wasn’t he? Kind of like someone being Ascended and then kinda pseudo-kicked out of the club but not quite really by the Ancients.

And they both like black.

It’s Baal AND Anubis…

To put it in WOW terms:
Anubis = Jailer
Baal = Sylvanas

At least in this scene.

Brilliant! I hadn’t even considered that.

LOL I saw you change the message and I honestly was confused at first until I remembered the whole scene was both of them. :grin:

…then going around looking for powerful artifacts from the people who cast him out.

Who’m I talking about there? :expressionless:

I have no idea if it’s all coincidence or inspired by him. I mean these ARE pretty darn broad generalizations for “bad guy” really. But I’m okay with it either way really

The parallels are clearly there either way.

Yeah, basically this.

It’s a common bad guy trope. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. That all depends on the delivery.
