Got invited as dps. Was made fun of for the entire time traveling to instance for not being a real dps. I actually ended up holding my own just fine, then at the end the tank died, so I brezed him and tossed a heal in. Then he died again and I swapped to bear form and finished things up.

I dont even get why druids get negativity.
I remember a few days ago, I was running stockades and we had a feral druid who literally maintained top dps for the whole run.
I was so proud of that kitty.

The only case where a druid dps may not be appropriate is for Meta-gaming speed raids…
Otherwise, especially dungeons… they will own it…
This is just a case where people are using toxicity to make themselves feel better about themselves and their class

You should see the paladin hate on the Alliance side. As if every ret is going to level holy. They only want massive dps for dungeons. Freaking stockades! And they only want really massive dps. I said “Well why didn’t you just say looking for mage?” :c
What they can or can’t do at low level is sorta beside the point. They get the hate because at max level a feral is just a rogue that does less damage, a moonkin is just a caster that goes oom before anyone else, and a bear is just a tank that the boss can kill instantly with any random hit (because they can’t hit the defense cap and can therefore be crit by the boss… huge no-no for tanking).
level 60 Raid dps meta isn’t the same as dungeon leveling dps meta…
Nor is even each individual raid…
I’m just getting to the level where I hate druid tanks less, the one I had last night was good. Usually I crit heal with a druid tank and I’m tanking.

Reminds me of Overwatch where there are like 2-3 dps you’re allowed to pick, 2-3 tanks, and 2-3 healers. otherwise you get blamed for any loss, despite your performance or the team’s.
90% of gamers, most of whom quite frankly aren’t very good, have a hard time envisioning scenarios in which out of the box character design can contribute to victory scenarios, feel VERY insecure about their own performance ability, and will actively seek to find a scapegoat for the failure they feel is inevitably going to come.
As others have pointed out there are legitimate balance concerns at end game but I’m assuming that’s not what this thread is about.
Druids and pallys > other classes. Just sayin’.
Not by much, and the gap doesn’t truly widen until late raiding anyway. Druids effectively have no lack of Energy so we play essentially as if we have Essence of the Red at all times. So yeah, we’re not at Combat Rogue level… but we’re ahead of plenty of others while buffing up the Warrior party like crazy.
This much is true, Moonkin don’t get Clearcasting procs because they aren’t whacking anything in melee. Plus the best spell is Starfire which only gets supported by Curse of Shadow and lacks fun things like Shadow Weaving like the other schools get.

Actually with their giant health pools, many healers prefer a Druid tank on many raid bosses. There are some that cannot be tanked by a Druid though
There isn’t a single boss that cannot be tanked by a Druid, just a few that makes no sense to have the Druid do it while the MT Warrior does nothing useful at all because its a single Tank fight. Loatheb is the only fight where a shield user (so Warrior or Paladin) would definitely wipe the floor with a Druid simply because the boss hits weakly but mechanics prevent you from getting healed consistently, so blocks do tons of work and high avoidance is super preferable.
Everything else is fine for a Druid, and on threat sensitive fights, the Druid is king.

Well I know that, but you should see some of the people blocking out certain classes from joining groups. It’s like we know what pallies can’t do in raids because of their gear, so lets crap talk them and get people to stop playing them. A lot of us aren’t listening but still. There are some who think pallies really aren’t needed , and we don’t get dungeons done if we don’t spec heals.
(I’m not speccing heals while leveling btw) lol

Druid is probably the most versatile class in Classic. Players who know how to play druid will get around the hybrid tax just fine. The problem is that most players won’t know how to play a druid in classic. They’ll have to learn.
Feral Druids get a lot of flak because people are constantly told that druids aren’t optimal and they roll with it without ever trying druid for themselves. Just ignore it.
I tank as a prot pally, I do pretty well and manage the hate by forming my own groups. If you advertise what class you are you typically get people that won’t heckle you about class/spec. Great thing about being the tank is not being an expendable dps, and being group lead.
