So…you want me to fight your girl, dog. You a hard boss man. Testing their skill to see if they live in combat. I just came here for a staff. What do you do to your people for things you care about more than an over glorified magical stick.
Wouldn’t be the first time in literature where gods have manipulated, and even destroyed, mortals without regard to the resulting fate of said mortals.
In Cata we at least got to deal with the entire aftermath of Carine’s death. We didn’t get to see the actual fight but we learned all about it. There were quest chains in the game while not showing the ‘bad things’ happen during the cataclysm itself still told us about all of what happened during it when we got to explore the regions.
You could reason out that deathwing showed up and all kinds of bad things happened. It’s not quite war loving garrosh who was as stereotypical for orc military personnel as you can get has turned into orc hitler.
This is Actiblizz doubling down is second nature to them even when everyone tells them it’s a bad idea.
I can tell you the things I like and dislike. I will go with the positive first.
I like the calm feel/atmosphere of the cinematic. We don’t get that too often and understandably so it is Warcraft… Just saying something I enjoyed out of it. The visuals are nice.
What I didn’t like the message is wrong. The pattern of sending the wrong message is never ending. I’m not sure if it is internal by disgruntled employees or someone keeps pushing them to send the wrong message…
A deity trying to justify slaughter of her people sounds awful..because it is. I also don’t like how Tyrande is “possessed” I would’ve rather had Elune not speak period. Through someone or not. I been talking about this for a couple months, (when people actually brought it up) so this shouldn’t come as a surprise.
It’s not all bad, but it is overshadowed by the wrong message. So it suffers.
I don’t believe Elune allowed the burning of Teldrassil, but she used that tragedy to send the souls to Ardenweald, hence the wording “In the wake of tragedy”. But Elune didn’t know what had happened. Maybe she’s busy doing god stuff, and why would she have any reason to believe that something thought impossible, or unimaginable would be happening in the maw? She probably doesn’t know about it because the Winter Queen doesn’t want Elune all up in her space.
Here I am putting a little faith in my goddess, ya’ll are so quick to condemn.
Also, the writing up to this point has been meh, so it is what it is.
Not so according to in-game events following and long after those of the introductory quest line for new worgen characters.
'Tis now merely an abandoned “ruin”, and that despite no apparent damage to its infrastructure.
Like with Gnomeregan before it, Blizzard bith but lazy.
Well we have been busy. We had to go to KT/Troll land for navies. We really need those boats. When many of the assualts involved air ship raids…(scratches head).
We need sea ships. On it sir. Everyone get in the air ship. We fly out in an hour. Any late comers, take the portals there (long pause by the commander).
Wait a minute. King sir dude…could you reclarify why we need boats on the sea again?
Said boats for both sides ofc are now at the bottom of the ocean. Alliance smashed hordes. Azshara sunk alliances. what a twist, huh? So I guess we go back to…air ships and portals. Like we always do.
Well, it does show that Elune isn’t omniscient. She clearly didn’t know that the gears of death were broken, either in an immediate sense or in general, and that her gift to her sister would be flushed down to hell.
She knew Ardenweald was suffering, but didn’t know the why of it. In her defense, “oops, this one single point of failure is broken, so let’s cast absolutely everyone into ultimate damnation by default,” is so profoundly stupid, no one should be expected to think that could ever happen. It’s the kind of insane existential flaw that hearkens back to Sargeras’ original motivation.
Before the void lords lore, it was said that he came to believe that existence was fundamentally broken and needed to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch. Looking at how the Shadowlands is structured, this belief is absolutely justified. Whatever blundering divine creator idiots were responsible for setting up a system that could result in this should absolutely be hunted down and ground in to loot and achievement points.
Forget the Jailer - we should end Shadowlands by the raiding the First Ones.
Should Elune have known what was going on the Shadowlands…? She shouldn’t have to. There should be no fail state where the default fate of every soul that dies is Turbo*hell. That’s not on her, that’s on who or whatever set the system up.
Maybe they enjoy seeing certain Night Elf players have meltdowns on the forums regarding all the trashing they do of Night Elves as a race.
Also, it’s nuts to see that all those paranoid about Elune abandoning the Night Elves were 100% correct that Elune did in fact abandon the Night Elves.
Elune would NEVER sacrifice people even to try and send an “answer” to her sister. Elune LOVES the Night elves. Sylvannas would do this, but never elune.
How the hell did Elune not know that the souls were being funneled into the maw? Surely she would’ve known the arbiter was offline?
Could elune just not have idk actually answered her sister or something instead of sacrifing thousands of NE to send a letter?
Dear sister, times are rough down here, the drought continues and I haven’t had good wine in years, please help me out will ya?
Regards, WQ
P.S. Oh yeah there’s a mortal here that told me the Arbiter’s in need of servicing and some odd banshee queen called sylvanas helped Zovaal screw it all up.
Elune: Need souls? Say no more! (What’s post script again? Whatever, off we go children, to the shadowlands we go)
