I thought I’d continue on that crab mount BUT getting soundless FOR ME is near impossible. Camping hourrrrrrs for it. Or on a discord just for soundless sounds insane to me.
Whoever thought of this meta and putting the crab mount behind it ~ needs a mental evaluation.

I got several spirit beasts in the 1st fly-by that way for my Hunter
It’s the evil spawn between Time lost proto drake mechanic and a low % drop rate rare, some mounts are designed around the playerbase being present during that patch, once it has passed its time, it becomes a complicated goal.
Blizzard likes to create time sinks around mounts. 
I gave up in BFA.
Returned to Nazjatar in Shadowlands to work on the bag achievement, came across Soundless, listed a group in the finder and waited about five minutes but nobody applied.
Killed it and the mount dropped.
The social aspect is kind of neat. It’s a super long respawn with a low drop rate, so people figured out a way of semi-efficiently farming it.
This is just masochism at this point. I hate the bodyguard thing, feels so arbitrary and annoying that I’d need to do every day. Then you have the 5 or 10 times you have to be at the event… did a chunk… but soundless and even pack wolf dude is beyond my patience. I did a fair bit when current, bit more of the puzzle stuff early in SL.
Looking at the few bits left, I honestly can’t even grind my teeth and do it. Not even alcohol fixes this lol
I’ve been chipping away at my meta achievement for the crab as well. I was doing the weekly boss achievement and grabbing all the rares as I worked on leveling my little ally and grinding the rep. There is a… eel cat matriarch? And after you kill her the daddy version may or may not spawn. I hadn’t seen him spawn for months, until he did.
I am just gonna say, while the RNG aspect of this meta achievement is very annoying, and while the requirements are extensive and tedious… I am glad that the crab mount is obtainable in game, rewarded for playing the game, and isn’t earned by a dollar amount on the cash shop.
Don’t give up, one day you will be sitting sideways on your crab daddy.

I just need the kill and having to camp it for HOURS and do the thing I dislike [discord] seems insane to get an achievement done so I can have my crab.

Soundless, like many of Blizzard’s decisions, is just indefensible really. Either a long spawn timer or a low drop rate is what it should have, not both.
I’m just here to say I have the crab, soundless and TLPD mounts. On my hunter I also have a soundless pet.

My advice is to use war mode and perhaps hop in chromie time on a leveling toon. Don’t forget that mounts are account-wide, regardless of the realm you get them on

War mode is a good tip because the rares drop currencies to get some of the rewards off a vendor there. But the achievement, as far as I know, is character specific.
I had been considering going back for the crab mount too, but based on what you are saying I don’t have the patience for that.
Which achievement are you referring to?
Undersea Usurper, the meta achievement for Nazjatar that awards the crab mount.
Specifically, some of the achievements required for the meta like leveling your body guards and Periodic Destruction. The progress isn’t shared across toons and you may get one achievement on one toon, it doesn’t count for the toon with the most progress. If that makes sense.
That’s account-wide too.
Blizzard created content but doesn’t think about the future and how this content will change due to the players being there or not, that’s a bad design around rewards, there’s a lot of people that say why do you say there’s not content? if you’ve 5-6 expansions of content, but that content was created on a way that now its a time sink and it’s not fun compared to when it was live, it’s not designed like an evergreen content.
I feel terrible for those who didn’t get Fabious in 8.2.
Exactly like that example, rares that respawn like Korthia not big issue, maybe if the rares can’t be solo until 10.0 will be difficult for people trying those on 9.2, but rares with some social mechanics, long respawns are just a combination to create a time sink that is worse if you don’t play at that moment. Fallen Charger maybe will be a possible rare like that and the maw assaults / Tormentor’s of Torghast at least until content can be solo.
Rather than camping, try just parking an alt there and quickly check back once or twice a day (especially at odd hours). It might be a little more camped at this stage of a patch, but a few months ago I was finding it once or twice a week this way.
