The wolf cult are dead.
Alpha Prime is dead as well as Argual.
There’s no primal worgen.

The cult and Arugal are not needed more is the original alpha. Worgen abound.
And again Feral Worgen are all over several places.
Heck we should be worried… The Scythe of Elune has no more power. We can’t cure them.
How will the worgen die out? They’re just humans that can turn into werewolves. Are you suggesting that humans aren’t able to reproduce?
I can see them going the voluntary “only the best are given the curse” route.
To be fair, that is only Genn and Darius who will not bite their daughters. Darius is fine with turning other humans into worgen, and other characters can have other opinions.
Yes they are. Bloodfang are Gilnean.
In fact, only a select few of them are kaldorei-worgen, and the majority are Gilneans who joined them over time.
That one CDev said “in theory, since it’s a curse, no”. Which I disagree with, since curses are heritable, and worgen are genetically worgen. After all, naga lay eggs, humans don’t birth vrykul, and orcs have green babies. I could go into that in more detail, but I’ve done so in my questions thread.
This would be neat, similar to The Champions in Skyrim, for the curse to be passed only to the willing and those with the willpower to control it, restricted to a single organization like the illidari.
Of course, there are still easily hundreds of thousands of feral worgen among the Bloodfang and Nightbane, who are already doing this; the rite of passage is called The Righteous Kill, and involves the murder of one of the cult’s enemies.
Worgen are no longer human.
True. And according to Curse of the Worgen and Dark Riders, feral packs of worgen include both mindless and sane worgen, and are lead by the latter.
In Classic, it was Gutspill, who was in possession of an artifact you had to steal. After his death, they were lead by Gervase, who lead the duskwood worgen in searching for the Scythe of Elune. After his death at the hands of Revil Kost, the duskwood worgen appear to be lead by the packleader Marus, who wears human clothes, wields a farmer’s scythe, and patrols between the territory and his base in Duskwood. And lets not forget the worgen in Felwood, who are lead by the kaldorei-worgen Denmother Ulricha.
Also true! Genn is leaping from ship to ship in Lord of His Pack, going toe to toe with a former Sin’dorei ranger in Legion, and hunting boar on all fours in Wolfheart. In fact, Wolfheart confirms that he does not feel the aches of age in his worgen form. On top of that, other old humans like Grandma Whal are frail and senile in human form, but fully capable of killing forsaken in true form.
The worgen have only been back in it the waking world for the last thirteen years, so honestly we have no idea what their lifespan could be.
Curse of the Worgen says that the Wolf Cult “went into hiding”. It never says they are dead. They are, in fact, still out there. We see in the starter zone it is the Bloodfang Pack that is attacking the city. A pack which is still very much active to this day. In addition, Dark Riders reveals that the worgen of Duskwood are part of the Wolf Cult as well, and the worgen of Duskwood are very much still active in Legion as well as in the heritage questline.
There’s plenty of non-afflicted Gilneans who can still choose to take the curse.
This is actually the point of the Gilnean Heritage questline where we follow Tess wanting to become a Worgen.
Who says they can’t breed? They have the ability to change form into human, and I can’t recall any lore indication that they aren’t able to make babies. Its likely the babies would become worgen given its likely a bloodborne infection but still, worgen puppies! We need these!
One particular CDev theorized that the worgen curse isn’t hereditary. Of course, they can still have babies, and one could certainly pass it to their young intentionally, as I am sure the Bloodfang and Nightbane do. At least they are not sterile, like Forsaken or Witchers.
That’s the whole point of the joke. Worgen can’t be paladins or Monks… Humans can, so since the HA quest says we can bite the clearly human Tess and change her… we bite the classes we want.
Its likely the babies would become worgen given its likely a bloodborne infection but still, worgen puppies! We need these!
Devs say they make uncursed babies. Not worgen.
nah, we just bite more people. maybe we can get worgen Vulpera, worgen, Gnomes, Worgen dwarves, Worgen blood elves. just go on a biting spree.
I dunno I’m not expecting THAT huge of a timeskip. Olllllllld characters die off. Young characters get old. New characters are introduced. Lordaeron is reclaimed. That kind of thing.
#ReclaimLordaeron
Worgen can breed. Their babies just won’t be werewolves.
He is just growing into his name… Greymane, would be silly if he had black hair…
It’s a magical curse.
And yet green orcs have green orc children
Cursed Arakkoa have cursed children… (and they be birds mon!)
Also lets have a look at the biggest magical curse in WoW lore, the curse of flesh.
I don’t see two dwarves making stone babies now do I? Is Moira’s son a creature of stone or flesh?
The only thing blizzard is consistent at is being inconsistent.
Right though. And then some people can argue that the Worgen is a nature curse and that those examples don’t count, but when we do see nature effects hereditary as well. The Curse of the Sporemounds is Life, and had the same effect on the Gron of Draenor as the Curse of Flesh did on the titanforged.
From what we’ve seen, curses are hereditary. We have yet to see it said or shown ingame that worgen kids are human, and in fact there is a worgen child ingame, the long forgotten offspring of a certain Big Bad Wolf.
And then some people can argue that the Worgen is a nature curse and that those examples don’t count,
Which is kinda funny as I would put the curse of seethe as a “nature curse”, given that Seethe was a bring of nature.
Good point, he was a wild god, even if the curse resembles shadow. There is also the Horns of Eche’ro, another magical gift of Life, passed to through generations.
they’ve retconned more beloved lore than this, just watch it will change.
Why in the name of all things holy would I want to pass on this curse?
