Why is Icy Veins saying you need to get to Renown Level 59 to unlock it?
And that it will take 7 weeks to unlock after 9.1 goes live?

You must answer the 5 questions, no 3, of the keeper of the bridge of death to unlock flying.
From what I know, stygia is pretty much useless in 9.1 and won’t buy you anything new. A new currency will take its place.
You can fly everywhere(except maw and new zone) after you unlock it, no “zone by zone” restriction. That includes alts.
So don’t do those callings? How badly do you need 4K gold? Most don’t need Renown anymore.
The Explorer achievement for this expansion essentially including Lorekeeper as well, so I don’t know if Explorer is part of the requirement, but if it is, it’s more than just running around and lighting up the map.
but i DO need the renown. i need it for the campaign on my night-fae dk. but… i’m willing to wait-it-out rather than do that garbage content. just sucks that those are the only ones i got. 
Gotcha. Still, it goes fast even without callings. Covenant campaign you need for 40, plus weeklies (Souls & Anima). Beyond that, Renown seemed to rain from the heavens just from dungeons and LFR, even without Callings.
I literally raised one of each class to 60 before figuring out what I wanted to main, and once I did it looks like I went from first Soulbind (Renown 3?) to 40 in exactly a month, just playing casually. If I were you I’d rather go Blood and spam dungeons than do a Maw calling. If you’re undergeared, it’ll fear you up fast. If you’re overgeared, you’ll practically solo your way to the Renown.
I’m expecting some more hand-me-down features besides the soul ash crate. I’ve been working on getting some alts to 60 and enjoying the daily callings with WM on.
It’s not a bad gold flow, either.
Apparently one of the cosmetic covenant set tints is available for Stygia from the new rep faction according to the renown rewards page on WoWhead (specifically the red/orange tint).
Its probably going to be a new form of stygia, they use other currencies as “placeholders” until the actual one is implemented. They did this very thing early on with some SL 9.0 items - they displayed currency as stygia until anima got put in and then switched out.

That aside, at the same time you can fly I really wish they would have set up portals from Covenant zones. /sigh - too much to ask for…
wholeheartedly agree that the maw almost always feels like work rather than fun
haven’t had a less enjoyable zone since Suramar (yes I know a bunch of peeps love this horrid place as well)

40 renown in all covenants as well as all four campaigns
All prior expansion pathfinders must be unlocked too.
