I have expressed before that the changes they’re toying with are stupid to begin with. Who wants to see a big fat rhino run on water? Getting dazed and knocked off your mount is part of the structure that makes sense.
So my position, is leave it ALL the hell alone.

I tried to explain this to people and the just don’t get that it’s less choices for someone who farmed the strider.
The only way we got the same choices is if they leave the strider alone.

So are you. Using a water strider IS temporary as well. You only use it on water.

Greatly reduced? What does that even mean? If it costs 1k gold, do I get 10g, 50g, 100g off, please define greatly reduced. YOU CAN’T BECAUSE WE HAVEN"T BEEN TOLD THE COST OR DISCOUNT.
As of right now, I can ride my ww mount on all my toons for FREE BECAUSE I EARNED IT WITH A REP GRIND. What part of this doesn’t anyone understand? I am losing the ability to travel freely on a mount earned, it would be like Blizz removing rep mounts all together.
This is nothing more than a gold grab at the expense of time played in game to appease Ion’s lust of forcing us to play his way. He doesn’t like it, just like flight, so now I have to jump through hoops to purchase something I already earned.

I happen to agree they should be left alone. My point is, blizz has been wanting to nerf this mount since Legion. They’re planning on completely neutering it with this equipment change. This way at least they would still walk on water without the stupid equipment piece that will likely be removed next expac since it will be a BFA item.

Why not let the Water Strider alone just like the Sky Golem?
Yes, I will still using the same mount to walk on water but that’s no problem for me at all, I only use it when I want to cross a lake or something.
And people who hate/don’t have the Water Strider can equip the boots and use whatever mount they want. Fair.
But, what if I want to use the glider or the anti-daze? I can equip those and ALL my mounts will get that at a cost of water walking, an ability I already had that took me time/effort/gold to get.
Why add those other 2 effects? They should’ve just added WW to get rid of the “I’m sick of using that bug everytime I want to water walk” thinking. Everyone happy.
And those saying “but you will be able to fly next patch!”; yes, but what about next expansions? It’s not like you will be able to fly right when you hit max level… we all know that.

These people and oh but you get a free item and the others are greatly reduced. What don’t you all understand about the fact that I already have water walking on that mount. It is the reason I spent time earning it.
You are all ok with them taking something away from people until it’s something you have.

No I don’t. Most people I’ve encountered out and about on both realms I play on know they’re going over water at some point and mount their water strider well in advance of actually getting to the water. They work on the land too, you see and I assume that given the number of water striders I’ve seen in KT and Zand, they think “mount my regular mount, run to the edge of the water, dismount, mount water strider, run over the water, dismount, mount back up on regular mount” is a fairly foolish enterprise.

And we will be past that timeframe here soon. Everyone will fly over that water as soon as flying is unlocked. You are arguing about the past, not the future.
Here is a though. Maybe Blizzard could choose to make less water zones in game? If there was no need for the strider, no one would complain right?
I grew up on a coastal city and love the water. Doesnt mean I need to see it or swamps every 5 feet.
I only use Water Strider permanently when I’m on Nazmir… because THAT zone is 90% water. You don’t see Water Striders on Drustvar/Vol’dun/Zuldazar

I have it. I’m ok with it.
I think the only thing we did ask for was other water walking mounts because we where bored with looking at the same model.
Blizzard took that and gave us this. It’s proof that they are really good at half listening.

Your statement is interesting.
So, what you are saying is that you use those mounts when you feel a need for them. Ok, I can believe that.
So what you are saying is that other mounts are used for a specific purpose, but the strider, instead of using it when you want to cross water, you use it ALL THE TIME, even if there’s no water, because for some reason this mount must ALWAYS used, rather than the other ones you just when it feels needed.
Is the error in your thinking clear?
Remember that the strider is unable to fly. Once people can fly, it is the strider that becomes irrelevant, along with any ground mounts. That’s why it’s obvious to so many that eventually flying equipment will be added to ensure every mount has the potential to do anything.
