So Overwolf is just going to be allowed to hold a monopoly over addons?

Sorry, I’ll say the obvious part out loud, underlined and in bold next time so some forum hero doesn’t miscorrect me next time.

I used to use wow matrix

Overwolf didn’t Curseforge did and they were sold to Twitch in 2016 and then to Overwolf in 2020.

Who cares just download the addons and move on with your day, if you really did care then donate to the addons developers

I don’t know how it works, are addons vetted and confirmed for safe use and quality … by someone?

I get that we are using addons from all over the place and that we must accept that if we want to, say, improve our quality of life.

What I don’t like is that this massive library of addons, some over ten years old, are all managed outside of the game and not by Blizzard itself. At some point, Blizzard has to own the responsibility because it is their game and they are allowing it.

Addons are a big deal and a very big part of how we play the game and for Blizzard to not take ownership of that management is (looking for the right word here): bad.

If you are a good enough of a computer programmer than you will be able to know what does and what does not belong. You can find any spyware or malware at all and remove it. And I have never had that problem from them. These people are getting cookies that your web browser can give you, then all those do usually is track you in order to give you adds and it is not technically spyware when that happens but most people seem to think it is.

Any modern day computer and most OS give you the option to remove your cookies anyway. PC and mobile will both have that problem. You are tracked online and it has nothing to do with Curse giving your spyware. You should be more worried about using Google for that reason than you are of using Curse.
