I would prefer that but I think the current devs are still stuck on the idea of gear progression mattering in all content
So I just figure gear scaling down would be the best compromise. So if you’re 226 ilvl playing at 1800 mmr your gear would scale down to 220. If you’re 213 playing at 1800 mmr you’d stay at 213 so there’d still be incentive to keep upgrading your gear, but it’d be less impactful
YUP. The only rated pvp content in which this gap is diminished is in RBG node maps, or even flag maps, where you can finesse an undergeared team into victory through strategy. But in arenas it’s a big deal. Arenas is just a stat check/brawl (at least in the current SL xpac, not classic/TBC)
That would be terrible, who would ever want to see themselves get weaker? If they are truly so stuck on gear progression being rating locked then there shouldn’t be ilvl upgrades on the gear and the difference in ilvl between honor gear and conquest gear needs to be reduced.
