So now that Living Flame is gutted

Can we please have Ice Lance do more than 60 base damage? Thanks

Edited to say…

People are not understanding how much a Nerf the Living Flame change is, let me break it down.

It takes about 5-6 seconds for Living Flame to reach the target, at 20 seconds that is 25% of the spells duration, giving roughly 15 ticks of damage

When the total duration of Living Flame is 10 seconds that is 50-60% of the spells duration, giving 4-5 ticks of damage. Additionally, you will have to press it twice in the same minute so it is doubled in mana cost and requires an additional GCD on Boss Fights.

Over the same one-minute period, you now do 8-10 ticks of damage, instead of 15 and the mana cost is double and requires an additional GCD. For PvP it also means the total damage is split by 30 seconds heavily reducing it’s value.

The movement speed of living flame has also been lowered so it will probably perform even worse than I’m speculating

I apologize to all mages. I started lvling a mage thus the nerfs. I have yet to make a shaman thus no nerfs. Should I do it and break their hearts too?

It’s a nerf but “gutted” quit being a drama queen please.

I don’t have the numbers… but, if you’re at, say, max range, how many of the 10 seconds of duration are being consumed as it wanders over to your target… and if your target is moving, maybe even longer. If it didn’t have to make its way from you to your cast target, then I’d say this change is not a big deal… as it stands, I’m not sure it’s worth the cooldown/rune slot unless you’re in melee range a lot.

It can still hit me if I RP walk.

So if you are at max range, it will tick 3 times. You have to get in close now for it to do dmg.

Can you link the Info?

It’s at the top of the forum, pinned.

I know that, I explained the change to someone else, but gutted is still being a drama queen. Even if it goes from 3/4 of its total duration to half, it’s still like 40 dps on its own for 2 gcds a minute (does about 225 per tick for me so at 5 ticks per cast thats 2250 damage per minute). It’s 100% still useable in PVE and you shouldn’t really have been using it in pvp unless you were fighting people who were completely braindead anyway. It’s trivial to avoid in pvp and an actual waste of a gcd.

You must not PvP at all, you can slow as a mage and it made it unkitable and was your highest DPS move by far.

I agree

Nerf mages

thats what you get for STV

Time to dance into range then.
Risk/reward.
You’re already there to nova anyway.

Its damage has been reduced by 50%.

For example if it did 100dmg per tick it would travel for 3 sec at max reange and tick 17x = 1700 dmg.

Now if it travels at max range and lasts 10 sec its only doing 700 dmg. and if you cast it twice since its a shorter cd. For the same spell

Before you got 1700 dmg
After nerf you get: 1400 dmg for 2 casts.

Thats a huge nerf.

This is some weird backhanded math.

Damage per tick is completely unchanged.

good, nerfs are supposed to be impactful

another thing is it will no longer last the entire duration of a PI. oh no

yes, let’s go into melee range as the lowest base stam class in the game in SoD where half of the melee classes have 2-3 gap closers or can immune your slows and roots while 1 tapping for 60% of your hp. Nova is a defensive self peel, if you ever RUN INTO MELEE as a mage you have braindamage.

Imagine not pressing living flame on melee range. Either start close or blink in. If it’s changed to 10 seconds why wouldn’t you change your play style to make up for the change. Don’t just have them change it and still release it from max range just because u could get away with it before. Now your positioning with it will really matter. Also now ur downtime is 20 seconds of no living flame where as it was 40 seconds before. So now you have more
Up time it’s actually a buff, just use it properly
