It’s just an engineer with profession skills as class abilities. There is nothing conceptually unique or even thematic about tinkerers. Mages are arcane-proficient magic invokers. Death Knights are empowered undead champions of the Lich King that channel death magic to eradicate life. Druids are nature-attuned defenders that shapeshift and heal the land with it’s own forces. Monks are martial artists that specialize in hand-to-hand combat techniques. Not going to go through every class but all the other classes have a unique theme and concept.
What’s a tinkerer going to be? A loser with a wrench? We already have everything a tinkerer would be in the engineering profession. If they’re going to add tinkerers, the engineering profession and all associated items would have to be removed so that they actually have some reason for existing, and you know that’s never going to happen.
And how would tinkerers fight? Throw wrenches at people? Boring, and Warriors already do that.
Use explosive sheep? Engineers already do that.
Use guns? Hunters and Rogues already use them as weapons and abilities, and Warriors can wield them too.
Use mechanical pets? Hunters already do that, and many other classes use pets in general.
Use technology to heal? Discount Shaman.
Use technology to stealth? Discount Rogue, and engineers already do that.
Use vehicles? We’ve been doing that since this game released, and how would that work as a class ability?
Use grenades and other handheld explosives? Hunters already do that.
Use energy guns? Discount of basically every spellcaster.

i was told by an alliance demon hunter (who is probably crying right now that tinkers arent coming) that a dragon class is edgelord. so is it or not?
if you consider reptiles on their own as edgy then . . . I guess? From where I stand however they are not. Dark Rangers and Necromancers on the other hand, now those are edgy . . .

I knew Tinkers wouldn’t exactly fit in with a dragon theme, but I wanted them anyway. The best time to have introduced them would have been in a surprise 8.3.5. patch.
The Dracthyr/Evoker we ended up getting doesn’t excite me as a race or a class. I won’t be playing it.

But, about the timing, idk… goblins and gnomes getting mechasuits to fight dragons sounds amazing to me.
Still hoping for a surprise because tuskarr and ducks arent really my thing.

To be fair, the old demonology warlock spec was pretty bad and had no identity. It was in a very weird spot “fill up resource bar, transform for 30 seconds, spam demon spells, repeat”. It was garbage. The new one has real identity where YOU are the demon master, and have a real rotation that’s not watching paint dry.
I’m sorry OP, I hope that you get the class of your dreams in the future!
