So No One Wants to Talk about the Crafted Gears?

Maybe it’s just the beginning of the phase and demand exceeds supply, but all the mats required to craft the epic gears are ridiculously expensive. It’ll literally cost you hundreds of gold to craft your epic gear at this point, which is in no way affordable. And I say this as someone who mains a lock, who does not need to purchase their mount. Of course one might say that, you can craft most of the mats yourself. While that is not wrong, the stuff dropped in raid are far from enough to craft the blue base mats. So unless you’re extremely rich for some reason, it’s gonna take you a long time before you are able to craft the epic gear.
My point is, I don’t mind spending effort for something good. But the thing is, an epic gear should not cost THIS MUCH effort/time or gold. I loved how they designed the epic gear questline in p1. A bit of running around with an intriguing story. That is DISCOVERY. But the p2 epic gear is basically the mode of collecting shards and putting them together to craft your gear. Sounds familiar? Atiesh? Shadowmourne? Val’anyr? That’s right, that is basically how people get end-game LEGENDARY weapons. So basically, we are now required to do what is required for a legendary weapon to get an epic gear, which is likely to be quickly replaced when p3 goes live. Maybe it’s still too early to say anything with a lot of people maybe still leveling, but at this point what is required to get this epic piece seems a bit ridiculous and not worth it.

I don’t know what to tell you. It’s not THAT expensive. This game is 20 years old and has been solved to death.

If you’re not running around with at least 500 gold by now then you’re either new to WoW or you just don’t play it often. And if you don’t play it often, you probably don’t need the epic crafted gear to begin with.

Play the game. Farm gold. Your rewards are tied to your effort.

That is beside the point. If you think one soon-to-be-replaced epic helm is worth 500g, it is me who does not know what to tell you. I was full bis at the end of phase 1. I raid every lockout and I have multiple raid-ready alts, so don’t tell me I don’t play often enough. But do excuse me for having work and a life. When I get home I want to chill and feel good, not to launch a game just to find myself working in another world again. I play the game a normal amount, and I expect to get items that are within the “normal” quality range. You didn’t hear me complain about not getting the epic staff from phase 1, because that’s an exceptional item. It’s supposed to be rare. But this epic helm? It’s just not.
Maybe you have been playing the game since the original vanilla and are good at making gold, and I respect that. But if you don’t get that the current system is punishing players who play the game normally (and check the forum, I’m obviously not the only one that thinks so), again, it is me who doesn’t know what to tell you.

There if you want it, not everything is for everyone, people who want to craft can focus on it and work at it over time, no one gets every carrot, and frankly if you need every possible best piece of equipment… what are you compensating for?

Mostly people go into the game assuming they are the best and expect the game to reinforce their preconceived notions, this makes sense considering in retail you are fluffed and treated like a god with fawning npcs and even enemies calling you ‘hero’ but season of discovery is set in classic where you’re a member of your faction who adventures and isn’t quite a godfigure.

Go to the ego stroke retail game modes if you need that kind of pandering, I for one like more of the challenge and the recognition that you’re a small part of a large world instead of the main character syndrome that gets forced on everyone ‘champion!’ pick what is important to you and follow that path, your choices matter more here since not everyone is expected to get everything.

This way seeing someone with one of these items MEANS something.

Do some quests at 40. Literally everything is affordable then.

crafting items/gear in SoD is time consuming and worthless afterward.

item text color means nothing.

this gearing method is awesome. or should i say… epic.

Truesilver bar which can’t be smelted for the plate gear is absolutely asinine… You have to either find it out of a chest or wait on transmutes, that’s in addition to the drops in raid. What kind of idiots work at blizzard anyway?

Ok kiddo. I believe there is already a version of the game that passes out epics for free. Perhaps you should look into that iteration. Good luck and cheers!

I agree. The retail kiddos get all bent out of shape if they have to spend more than 20 minutes acquiring a piece of gear.

There’s nothing wrong with the prices. It’s the BiS helmet for the phase and an epic, it should be worth a lot. Also give it a week it’s 100g at most.

I don’t know what you want them to do. If they don’t make the drops required for the epic crafting helmet buyable then it would take even longer to the the epic helmet. Otherwise you just want everyone to have an epic helmet for free.

It’s not that the “system” is bad… it’s like it’s not designed with the concept that the phase is limited time duration.

Then on to the next phase and new raid… blah blah

player made expense

There’s ample supply on the AH. You frame it as if the crafter has to go source their own truesilver.

What’s easier/faster: running around opening chests and getting a few bars or completing 2 quests at lvl 40 and buying them?

The price for bars has already dropped 60% and AH supply has doubled since P2 started and that’s only been a little more than a week for the try-hards to start raiding.

If I ran this game.

You (generalized ‘you’) would be crafting every single piece of gear.

Tier gear included.

You can get them for free by simply running the raid.

Phase 2: has been out not even 2 weeks.
Players: WhY dOeS tHiS cOsT sO mUcH gOlD?!?

Imagine it didn’t and you already had it. What would you even do with yourself?

You want the best gear in the game just handed to you or dropped off a boss?

We are about to start going on 3 day lockouts. The raid drops close to 20 a run and you need about 11-15 per craft. People are going to start getting their materials way faster and dumping any excess salvage they get onto the AH. The price is going to go down again quickly. Every item like this is expensive in the start for people who rush it and then becomes affordable as more supply hits the economy.

Its been a week stop be so dramatic. Wah wah
