So no Flight Master's Whistle, eh?

How are we feeling about this? It’s odd to me that they keep it for Legion and BfA content but not SL. With flying for everyone in Legion I don’t see how it’s needed as much personally.

I can appreciate them taking a step back to the “classic” approach with running around more for exploration. But it feels weird having no sort of fast travel other than flight masters. Kind of mixed, I feel like the game can get too easy in a sense with FMW? But just removing it’s functionality from this expansion feels… odd?

Thoughts?

First they came for flying.
Then they came for the whistle.
Next they will come for our epic ground mounts.

They already came for your epic ground mounts in the Maw… Until we get more Torghast at least.

HATE it. We were supposed to not feel its absence. Well, guess what. I feel it.

I honestly never thought about it until now. I have been enjoying my experience thus far. The zone layouts seem pretty convenient and travel doesn’t seem arduous.

The maw is a “test” to see how much they can get away with.
Just like flying in Timeless Isle in MOP

That’s a joke right?
These zones have some of the worst terrain I’ve ever seen. And I’ve been playing since 2005.
The zones almost actually require flying

Isle of QD was flightless and part of BC. Timeless Isle wasn’t new.

The flight whistle being gone is good. We can now consume their product for longer

That was flightless because of its map location. It was part of the “old world” yet still in BC.
Like the belf and goat zones.

I actually really enjoy them so far, but I’m probably the minority. It feels like a larger world which I like. Zuldazar by far was the worst zone without flying IMO

I usually can do without a flight whistle the first few months, it isn’t 'till I get tired of the zones, that I start looking at what’s closer etc and reaching for my flight whistle.

So for now it’s ok, that’ll change though later.

I don’t entirely agree with their logic on why it needed to be removed, but to a certain extent I understand that with its removal getting into tight spots and using the whistle to get out is less doable and that means people are more mindful of their surroundings.

What was stopping them from making it its own, flight enabled area, aside from laziness?

Now this is a joke right?

I agree. I think it’s very extreme to say they require flying when we’ve had to walk in zones like Highmountain, Zuldazar or Drustvar. Most of SL’s zones are super flat, the only possible exceptions I could see are parts of Revendreth or Maldraxxus.

Your tin foil hat is on a touch too tight my man. If you have been playing since 2005 you would know zones like the maw and timeless have been in the game since flights inception.

BC, Wrath, and Cata all had no fly zones did they?
BC had one, but that is only because it was part of the “old world” like the belf and goat starting area.
Wrath didn’t have one. (PVP zones don’t count)
Cata didn’t have one. PVP zones don’t count.
The experiment started with 2 zones in mists, and we lost flying in the expansion immediately after.

This is definitely a test

Feels bad being in the expansion of forced slowdowns.

Maybe next one they’ll just give us currency for logging in every day with a bonus per hour played

i agree in saying that it’s probably just a test…

but there are lots of unique ways to get around zones they’re experimenting with, like waypoints (if you want them), a new enchant to bracers for reducing hearthstone timing, and eventually flying (which they did say would be earlier than BFA).

i’m all for letting things play out…i don’t personally feel like it’s particularly annoying to get around zones or anything…but then again, my backpack is literally full of different portal rings/hearthstones/shortcuts to get around quickly…

there’s plenty of ways to be clever in this game and still be quick trust me.
