Just saw a video saying new Paladin races won’t be coming in the next expansion, citing needing a bunch of new animations and artwork assets. So basically it feels like Blizz is saying that they will only do new race and class combos if there is no work involved.

Majority? If not all the current races can be all the classes that require no additional animation and art assests. The rest being, Druids, Paladins, Shamans and Demon Hunters.
And I think Demon Hunters is only grouped along in that because of Glide and their wings, otherwise I’d imagine they’d be the same as DK by this point as Hero Class level advantage isn’t really a thing anymore to my knowledge.
But for specifically Paladins, I feel like there’s the least amount of work needed to be done which sucks because many races would fit being a Paladin. If not all of them at this point.

Just because they don’t have plans for a new race/class combo this year doesn’t mean they’re never going to more.

Dance animations takes time to perfect. At least they didn’t say it will never happen.
At least Void Elf Paladin is soft-confirmed by a Void Elf Paladin literally appearing in the Harbinger questline.

They shouldn’t even be adding the remaining 3 anyways to anybody. You’ll get it, but yea, it takes time. Do you really want druids on every race but no racial forms? Night elf paladins but no silver elune light, velf paladins just get a pass and get to exist with no explanation for why their spells don’t just use void magic?
If you don’t care about that then you are part of the problem.

What i would give to play a troll demon hunter. The animations is truly a weak excuse since we just watched them give animations to like 400 mounts so they can dragonride
Yeah? I use legion artifact forms anyway.
The work for new druid forms is huge. Paladins… less so as it’s basically redoing the racial mount.
Shaman tho? The only class thing is an object (totem) with an effect attached. If we’re likely to get any new combos I’d guess these were the most likely.

They also tend to downplay these topics until the time is right, as well. For example, Dracthyr were originally not being opened to new classes at all in the near future, announced around Blizzcon iirc. They mentioned then that they did plan to open them to other classes, but not any time soon. Now, it has been announced that they hope to open them to other classes sometime in TWW, although they may not be ready at TWW’s initial drop.
So there is a chance, however small it may be, that they’ve got a team chipping away at the art/assets that need made here and there and are just not ready to announce it yet since they don’t have a timeframe to give for when the races will be ready. As someone who desperately wants a belf druid, I have hope that this is the case

I’d be content with that if they balanced them out with an undead or a HM one
And all they have to do is copy/paste blood elf animations. And maybe change the color palette to blue/purple from yellow/red.
No. They’re saying they won’t give you classes with unique racial aesthetics without doing the work of creating new imagery for them first.
Which is good. They shouldn’t do it AT ALL if they aren’t going to do it right.

This is ridiculous. Is there a skeleton crew working at Blizzard or something? Just how much work could it take to make a few new assets for certain race/class combos? This is something I could see an indie dev struggling with but this is BLIZZARD. What on earth is going on?
Blizzard, has been doing Grandma’s Boy game design since Vanilla.

Which is why we are getting purple porcipine orcs and crystal dwarves. And nothing else brought up on the forums since forever.

That’s nice. I want racial forms for every race that can’t be a druid or there is absolutely no point in adding the class to those races. This is why they never should have listened to people like you, lore should always come before some selfish players wants/desires.

So what you think is more important is proper and correct, and if anyone else wants something else they are selfish and wrong. Cool cool.
If you remove the game’s foundations, such as factions, race/class restrictions, etc. Then you remove far too much identity and thus give the majority fewer reasons to care about your game. This whole mess only came about because of the minority who refused to quit and just whined too loud.

Adding class race combos Involves a lot of things which you mentioned. Animations, putting their Armor sets on character models, adding lore and making it make sense.
They’re getting there. Be patient.
