It really shouldn’t surprise me how short sighted and bad the arguments presented in many threads are. Massive server imbalance is not something that should be defended. it is lazy and bad oversight of the game.
Imagine you are playing any other game. Let’s take another Blizzard game, Overwatch. You are choosing to do PvP. You load up the game, get into a match, and the round starts. But… something sure is weird. the enemy team has 12 people on it. After getting stomped for awhile the game just isn’t fun. No amount of skill is going to make up this player deficit. So the other team taunts you and says go to another server. So, you do. Now when you play your team has 10 and the enemy has 6. You then steamroll them. The novelty is nice for a short time… but you want a real challenge. This isn’t PvP. This is farming and requires no effort. This is what imbalanced servers are.
Let’s look at some of the bad comments/arguments.
“Just leave the server/quit.”
This is probably the most short sighted comment I see. If your server is already imbalanced and people start leaving it will only get worse. This is bad for two reason. One, the experience for the minority side gets even worse. this may cause even more people to leave due to a fruitless and pointless game experience. Two, if the imbalance grows too great than the majority side will have no one to PvP with. You can camp your FPs and dungeons and wait hours as a meager few people come through, corpse walk, then you just wait some more. How fun.
“You’re just a tourist.”
Expecting a company to maintain game integrity does not make someone a tourist. the people I see use this phrase are often the ones benefiting from the imbalance. If your idea of “PvP” is standing around waiting for 1 person to land so you and 4 others can click one or two buttons and kill them, you aren’t a PvPer. You’re a farmer. You aren’t some amazing PvP player. You are mindlessly farming a reward system. If that is what you think PvP is, you are the tourist.
“You signed up for PvP, why complain when PvP happens?”
This, again, normally comes from the folks benefiting from the imbalance. Yes, people signed up for PvP. PvP implies there is actually a semblance of balance where actual fights happen. This has obviously not become the case. Watching one side farm a reward system with no effort involved is not PvP. Don’t sit there and pretend it is. Any other game that allowed this to persist would be immediately canned for being garbage.

I don’t even get why people are freaking out. PvP servers have always been like this (toxic and violent), and the ganking problem will be fixed as soon as BGs drop. That might be in a week or in a month, but it will be fixed eventually. Why people continue to play something even when it drives them mad, and when they know it will improve later, confuses me.

It’s a player driven problem. Nothing blizzz can do. Feel free to reroll on another server to help solve the problem. Heartseeker needs horde

I am not Horde on Classic. It is not a player driven problem. I honestly don’t even see how you can make that argument. Blizzard has full control over the game servers. There are multiple ways they could work on fixings this. But, that is a different topic.

Not without making changes. #nochanges

If you are a hardcore nochange person, then you are intentionally choosing to be obtuse and aren’t worth the discourse.

Unbalanced PVP servers killed the original game, and will kill this one too. The balance should have been addressed 2 months ago.
Instead they introduced layers, allowing the dominate faction to grow even more. Removed the layers, now there is a queue. Then you sit in a 3 hour queue to get into the game as an alliance player, because you’re stuck there, you get corpse camped trying to run to BRD or anything else because the dominate faction is honor starved.
Then you manage to organize a 200 person raid to clean the area out. Then the dominate faction comes back with 400 because you simply do not have the numbers and you are back where you started.
The unbalanced servers will be dead, a one faction PVP realm.

Blizz will likely release bgs very soon just as they did with dire maul. that will eliminate most of the farming since it’s so much more efficient to get honor from bgs.

Do you have any facts or reasons to think BGs will magically fix this? Do you really think the dominant faction is going to give up easy and mindless HK farming? That is a bit presumptuous at best.

It isn’t presumptuous at all. I speak from my experience on private servers where the same thing happened. Once bgs came out world PvP drastically decreased.

Those servers also had drastically lower populations. Those lower populations would not be able to support farming if a good chunk are in fact going to BGs. As long as an efficient amount of HKs can be farmed by the dominant faction, it won;t stop. Ever. Gamers now are very different from back then. They want the easiest and fastest.

This is the game.
Love it or leave it.
Not everything has to be a structured, organised, fair fight.
Its friggin Warcraft, its meant to be brutal and unfair, if you don’t like it just leave ffs.
It doesn’t need “balance”, it needs the idiots obsessed with balance to leave and go somewhere else, perhaps if you don’t like classic you should stick to one of those other perfectly balanced boring games your referring to.

This isn’t Classic WoW. It’s ghost walking simulator.

I don’t play Overwatch, but does it have PvE servers, too?

Yes, that is part of classic wow, working as intended.

“Love it or leave it.”
Already expressed why this is a terrible argument. There is nothing wrong with wanting something to be better.
“Not everything has to be a structured, organised, fair fight.”
No one ever asked for this. You are just building a strawman you can easily knock down.
Your other comments are basically you repeating yourself. Thank you for proving my point about being short sighted though.

Grob is a 50/50 server from what I’ve heard, so if you have a problem with pvp on that server it’s a YOU problem.
Northdale had 13k concurrent players online in peak times during the world PvP phase. That is more than enough for me to stand by my claim. World farming is not efficient. The only people who will do it are the rank 14 grinders and they’re limited by queue time so generally they pick locations that are close to the battle master.
Already seen it, and know how it plays out. You don’t have to believe me at all. I’ll just wait for it to play out the way it has before.

OP is spot on, so i expect a wealth of horde trolls to lose their collective marbles over this post.

If you turn out to be right, cool. Until then, this is still and lazy way to run a game.
