So Long, Big Love Rocket, and Thanks For All the Xanax

they need to make it 1% or 2% its a holiday mount its whatever

Also, I don’t have a gambler mindset. I actually went into a casino in Nice, France and just ordered food when everyone else was on the slots.

I keep thinking something is wrong with me. I don’t have an addictive personality. My relatives were narcissists…maybe I just grew tired of being subjected to their endless whims and desires for fame. Also, I have the opposite of ADHD…

More like stare off into space for 3 hours. I can jam to music or meditate. My mind is like a giant empty room with windows high on the wall and a lone candle in the corner.

My SO, her mind is like a raging tempest filled with 9,000 sheets of paper of all the things she is supposed to be doing or anxieties/worries about something. I’m more like…eh que sera sera.

My theory is they hope that somebody at Blizzard sees their post, takes pity on them, and says “Aww, you’re quitting because [insert rare item here] is eluding you? Here ya go tiger!”

They’d probably quit then because the “challenge” is now gone. I think most people have a timer in their heads.

This object should take X amount of time to get. And eventually they reach a point of enough is enough. They just go :raised_hands: and :peace_symbol:

Really? Quitting because of a mount that actually looks pretty ugly? There are hundreds of mounts in the game that look better and are easier to get and even that it isn’t worth leaving for a cosmetic.

I could see that, too.

You and me both! I’m SO SO SO sick of ICC. Once I get that horse I’m never taking any of my characters in there again.

as far as quitting posts go, this is one of the least dramatic i’ve encountered.

you’re not a collector.
you don’t get it.

I think Blizzard really dropped the ball on this mount.

The Big Love Rocket is an old mount, meaning it’s been around for 15ish years. People built a system for getting it, which was blasting the holiday boss with an army of alts.

The simple answer would have been giving the mount the same drop rate as the Brewfast mounts because that wouldn’t have nullified everyone’s work they put in to get all their alts leveled every two years in preparation for this holiday.

Having only the first box of the day nullified the alt army. That’s not what some people wanted.*

Disclaimer: I’m sure selling it for bracelets, which also would have nullified the alt army, wouldn’t have angered most people.

I’m a collector. I collect comic books, have been since I was around 8 years old. I collect other things too as I can afford. I’m not going to quit anything because of one item I either can’t get or just haven’t been able to acquire yet. Frustrating? Sure. Worth quitting over? Seems silly tbh.

I feel your pain.

I didnt really start grinding the mount early on - just running the event daily on a couple toons - but it quickly became the only holiday mount I didnt have. My OCD wouldnt allow that.

I often get bored of WoW and will take a break for an extended period of time, but I would always make sure to get some game time for the Valentines Day event (though I did take a couple years off WoW entirely in 2013/2014).

In recent years, I ended up creating numerous alts with tank specs just for the fast queues (and frankly, it’s not that hard to tank) and I would queue as healers but enter as a DPS on a moderately geared Shaman and Spriest. I would also queue up on any DPS toons I was on at the time, when they were doing professions/dailies/whatever… I was running a minimum of 13 toons through the event every day for the holiday, so at least 130 attempts per year (probably closer to 150).

The mount finally dropped for me on 2/13/21 - I think that might have been the LAST year it was actually still called the Big Love Rocket - on, ironically, a hunter who just happened to get a reasonable queue time.

I dont really go crazy farming mounts, but this was a more frustrating farm than any of the other rare drops I’ve ever intentionally gone after: the Warglaives of Azzinoth, the TLPD, the Mecha Mogul recipe (multiple times on different engineers on different servers).

They’re definitely done for :dracthyr_nervous_animated:

I can totally relate to how you feel, it may not have been my catalyst… but still the overall feelings were similar. I have played WoW for so long (on and off within the last few years since I couldn’t find anything to really keep me playing sadly) and one thing I have learned is that if something isn’t giving you joy or benefitting your wellbeing it’s for sure time for a break. I know it seems all like common sense, but the words didn’t hit me until I would feel anxious about not getting dailies done on time or not seeing my friends and how they would possibly get mad. All sorts of things our mind will conjure up when we are dealing with things like anxiety or other mental roadblocks. I hope in your time away you can find the joy once again and come back with a healthier approach to the game; and if that never happens I hope you find another hobby that will bring you as much joy as you deserve!
I am so sorry about your loss, our fur bebes really help us through so much and when they cross it’s an emptiness that is hard to fill for sure. Sending you love and strength through your new quest in life! Maybe we will see you again!
