So Josh Allen leaves and immediately Ion goes casual brotalk with Asmon

How much player feedback did the hairdude really suppress? I always wondered what the hell was the point of his existence.

I don’t even understand the complaint in this thread.

Usual GD conspiracy trolling.

Community Relations Managers are supposed to manage the Business’s relations with the Community so Ion going from Aloof Lawyer to Friendly Gamer upon him leaving shows just what sort of image the Community Relations Manager wanted for the Company.

We have a guy who wants the Company to be impersonal and all business.

The thread is ranting about how the previous Community Relations Manager was deliberately stifling the Company which is becoming more open and friendly with him gone.

… how does a communications guy stifle the developers and company? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

How do you ensure that?

I know you’re trying to be funny but this is still cringe.

Doubtful.

Then why are you persecuting Lore for? He was an avid player before Blizzard head-hunted him and had a fan site where a majority of raiders actually went to gain strategy and insight into different raids via his videos. He was a liaison for the community, and is still an avid fan of the game and wanting it to be better. Did you not think that maybe he was getting stifled by those who were above him and actually made the game?

His point was to sell time shares in Florida, at least that’s what I heard.

Once i figure it out, i’ll let you know

The Communications Guy is the person in the best position to do exactly that. Controlling the flow of information people have access too is one of the most powerful tools in human history, whether it’s establishing a Ministry of Disinformation to control public perceptions, such as every dictatorship in human history has done…to shaping how a game is developed on such a scale as an MMO.

Think about all the times people like Ion have come out after backlash apologizing and saying they implemented it because they thought it was what the players wanted? That “Communications Guy” was the one who was in charge of telling them what the players wanted.

Now, whether or not that’s the case here with Blizzard, it’s understandable how people can reach this conclusion given the history and the optics.

I don’t think this has anything to do with a single person. It’s part of their shift in philosophy about giving players more of what they supposedly want. Maybe the success of Classic clued them in a bit on that as well.

Regardless, we’ll see what comes of it. Talk is cheap.

Didn’t Blizzard hate Asmon for being a toxic person or something? The sudden change of heart does look suspicious.

Almost like they are trying to sell a different narrative or something.

Nah…

No but the forum sure did. The forum would report you for even typing his name, now he’s bolstered up like some hero and worshipped.

It’s funny how the forum changed their hatred to love when he fit their narrative, I agree.
