I disagree with the statement original MC was easy. I think it was adequate for the time.
Think about it for a moment. No addons, not even raid markers. Keeping 40 people organized? Teamspeak over modems? No strategies to look up? Over the board less damage? Limited number of debuffs on the boss? Threat problems? 5min Paladin buffs? You are the bomb …
I’d like to see people run MC with no add ons, that right there would increase difficulty dramatically. Add ons suck.
My top 3 things which would IMHO kill you without modifying the UI:
a) debuffs - I don’t know if in the original raid frames you’d see curses clearly (or buffs)
b) threat
c) notifications (like “you are the bomb”)
People who need the Classic raids buffed to make them more difficult and “interesting” honestly don’t belong in Era. Classic Era is not intended to challenge experienced gamers. It’s there to let those of us who enjoy it put in our time and just dig the game the way it was back in the day. Blizz already screwed it up a bit with that stupid world buff gizzmo.
Play it as it lays. Find your own game within a game for your own entertainment - oddball specs, trying a class or profession you have always stayed away from, switch factions . . .whatever. There is plenty to do if you just use your imagination.
I have seen quite a few guilds still wipe on MC and BWL for over a month in classic 2019, in all phase, and in era.
We were in AQ40 and people were PROGRESSING in MC and BWL, no clearing, progressing.
We need to keep in mind that forums, reddit, and warcraftlogs are very much an echo chamber.
There is a broad playerbase that can’t handle SOM raids at all. I would venture to say the MAJORITY of the playerbase can’t deal with it.
There is a rather large majority of the playerbase who simply don’t even know what discord is, refuse to voice chat, do not look up fights in any sense, have never visited the forums and don’t what a “reddit” is.
I know this is baffling to many of us that play or have played in a hardcore manner.
While many of us play for our own reasons in classic instead of retail, there is a LARGE portion that find retail incredibly too hard, to complicated, and simply can’t hang with the new hardcore gamers.
They visit OLD mmos because they know the fights, they don’t need to learn new ones, nor do they have the time.
If you start CHANGING old content, you will find a rather large DIP in players. The only ones who stuck it out with SOM in the first place were a lot of the sweaty guilds and those hardcore vanilla gamers.

that world buff “gizmo” just proves that you are full of crap. if the game was really supposed to be for “those of us who dig the game the way it was back in the day” it would never have been added 
besides, this thread is about SoM2, not changing era.

Did you not play the first vanilla classic? Everyone knows it easy and yet they still want to replay it. Go play mythic dragonflight raids if you want a challenge. Congratulations on figuring out MC is easy though after 18 years.
I don’t understand your obsession with making Classic “hard”, Classic is always at its best when the content isn’t hard. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from playing retail since MoP and Classic is that the majority of Classic enjoyers have 0 keybinds, keyboard turn, beckpedal, and think addons are cheating. These people existed in 2004 and still exist to this day. I really thought when Classic came out in 2019 those people would be like 1% of the population but boy was I wrong. If you don’t capture that 800ms brain delay dad gamer, SoM2 will be dead on arrival. You can’t market Classic Vanilla to hyper competitive (LoL/Valorant/Mythic Raiding) players.
If you want a semi challenge for MC just pug it with like 30 people who just did the attunement quest.

Unless every single person knows the fights perfectly Id think a 30 man pug of fresh 60s without WBs and/or cookie cutter specs would find it at least mildly more interesting than facerolling it with a bunch of over geared players.
