SO, I've never played shaman before

I’ve only really played Rogue at a decent level in the game, but I was just going through the classes and saw shaman and thought… hmmmm … mayyyybeeee

SO I’m here asking the shammy mains, HOW IS IT? Is it fun? I know its subjective but are you as a shaman main enjoying the class this season and as a main? dps/healer

Shaman is cool because its the most versatile class in the game, more than druid.
You always have a tool for every situation, and if ur tank dies u can send ur elemental to tank for u for a brief period, ive used it in LFR and it even saved us a wipe lol.
The only 2 things shaman dont have is invisibility and a tank spec.

It’s damn good.

Prob the most fun class in the game.

Enhance and ele both play pretty great. There are always improvements to be made but it’s pretty damn good.

So what spec are you lookig at Enhancement which is melee Elemental which is ranged or Resto?

Personally if leveling a Shaman Enhancement is faster and easier. I will one of these days level a Elemental from 0 to get that experience. But there are many factors when it comes to playing a Shaman that you need to think about when choosing Shaman.

To be honest, I’d probably go enhancement. He’s been super fun to play I just don’t know what it’s like at end game

Resto is far easier. Up till like level 50-60 you can destroy most things with 1-3 chain lightings. If you use warmode there’s also instant cast healing rain doing damage through acid rain talent.

Choosing elemental or enhance you have to use far more abilities and kill times are longer too.

I’m loving mine. Primarily play Resto, but dabble in Enhance for fun. Great utility and great for PuGs. Plenty difficult so a lot to learn…

You are still having to cast at least with enhancement its melee which is what the op is used to. Enhancement is easier imo use heirloom weapons with the elemental blast enchant you just nuke.

It depends on the build you decide to go stormbringer or totematic. Both are viable from my understanding totematic is a bit stronger than stormbringer. But Totematic is basing a lot of your dps on the totem where as stormbringer is just enhancing what you are already doing now.

I do not like having a lot of my dps depending on a totem that can be destroyed or outranged. Although as pointed out in a different thread you can just macro the totem and Lava Lash and its always with you. Just me I don’t like having to rely on a totem.

YO my homies, thanks for all the messages. Just got shammy to lvl 80. I’ve been loving it

What race is your shaman and what spec did you decide to go?

Orc and enhance

Playing totemic

Try stormbringer you might find it a lot of fun. But very nice I hope you enjoy the WF and zug zug

Definitely not more versatile than Druid as Druid has 4 specs, has 2 dps specs 1 int, 1 agi, has a heal spec and can tank. Paladins. Same thing. Tank, dps, heal.

They’re fun. And that’s why they’re the most main switched to class in the game. I’ve seen more shamans in raids than any other class by far. The other day I was part of a pug and there were 6 shamans in the raid  they’re the one class that stays fotm even when their performance sucks.

As much as I’d love to agree with this, it is factually untrue for Ele/Enh - both of these specs have historically been on the bottom half of spec population and performance for nearly every expac (except for TWW) in M+; both Ele and Enh were extremely strong in Season 1 so a ton of people main swapped this expac.

It is true though that Resto is usually a popular pick among healers - this is usually because it’s easy to learn/play and has a ton of utility.

So I am curious what made you give up the stealth pickpocket stab stab?

TBH, I don’t really enjoy sin rogue. But I did play it for my guild/raid team. I didn’t really enjoy the play style or the hero talents or the tier set this time around, just seemed blah/stale. I got my goal for the season with what I cleared. Shaman peaked my interest while I was leveling with a friend and I really liked the theme as well as hero talents.

Ahh Understandable I will be honest I main Shaman and DH. Dh for tanking, I wish Shamans had tanking I Would never have to leave my favorite class.

By versatile i mean having tools, and shamans have more tools than druids, the only thing druids have and shamans dont is invisibility, all the rest they can do, even tank for a brief period.

I’m talking about the class as a whole not the specs. There’s a ton of Shamans

It’s neck and neck with mages which are a huge population of players according to data for azeroth

Versatility extends beyond tools. And the tools are subjective while roles are not. We’re talking about versatility as a whole
