I’m both the biggest loser, (and the biggest evidence) that the node isn’t spawning as it should or is predicted every 45mins-75minutes.
I’ve tried this method before in smaller windows of 3-7hrs. but after my largest window of 48hrs failing im left wondering “where are all the lotus”
so 1/12 nodes on the map, average of 50minute spawn timers, I have to fail the 1/12 roll, 50 times in a row. do you know what those odds are?
1.29%. so in 2 days of hard active camping a single node i have not seen a single black lotus spawn.
so i checked all the raiding guilds this week on my server on WCL and do you know how many flasks were consumed in total? 183 between both horde and alliance. (of those reported on WCL). but how many lotus spawn per week? with an average of 50mins per spawn across 4 zones. that amount is approximately 640 black lotus per week. so week after week we have a lack of flasks being consumed which should yield an overabundance of herbs for everyone who wants one. but it simply not the case, none the AH, none to buy.
so in effect, the herb isn’t even spawning. i’ve first hand experienced the lack of spawning. its not even the bots insta picking the herb.
If i point blank ask blizzard how many black lotus have spawned and who are the players who picked them all were, would they know? sure they would, but the answer is freighting, there aren’t 640 lotus being spawned per week, as they should be.
Where the black lotus spawns is random as you know. Maybe it didn’t spawn there… and yes with 50 spawns it is definitely possible it didn’t spawn in that spot. Or maybe it did while you were up for a minute or having micro naps from being awake for 48 hours?
I got a black lotus the other day, I don’t actively look for them. I was going to a scourge invasion in Burning Steppes and I saw a group of allies so I’m like “nope I’m not walking into that” so I went south and it was right there. There were 50+ horde in the zone and many alliance due to the invasions. Some hunter scout congratulated me for getting it. The last one I got I randomly found in Silithus while I was killing mobs for a quest. I don’t usually look for them since there are better uses of my time. The point is yes they do exist.
The lotus might not get picked immediately as it spawns especially at some less busy times and zones, reducing the number of spawns in 48 hours. So if at any given time there are less farmers than spawn points in your zone, the best strategy is not just to camp one spot.
Even on my low pop Thalnos there are people who are farming Black Lotus like it’s a job, I would suggest maybe try walking WITHOUT the crutches for a few days, see how it works.
Blizzard’s decision to just ‘increase lotus spawn’ was really smol muscled decision. I feel like ‘the spirit of vanilla’ was about scarcity, not monopoly. So TBC herb spawning is more vanilla than classic.
Black lotus also used to be BoP back in 1.7 and that supports my theory since then you’d only have alchemists out getting it. (Though making it BoP and not require alchemy 300 was a stupid idea from the start)
I don’t know man, camping a single spot isn’t going to field much evidence.
There are spawns I’ve never seen them at, and there are spawns I’ve picked back to back. it really is that random. Even more so after the change.
If you are going after lotus, you need to stay on the move and watch the actions of other players in the zone.
You are on one of bigger NA servers, that’s not helping you with your research. its very competitive on high pop’s. Start networking with other lotus hunters to get a better sample.
They have malware AI tracking and collecting his eye moments’ historical data, feeding it to decentralized botter databases. Using this data they teleport hack in, pick the herb, and teleport hack away, everytime a eye rub is performed, every quick glance away, every trip to the bathroom or fridge, every “huh? wha? yes I’m still on the game. wha? no. go back to bed.”
There are more than 12 possible lotus spawns in all four zones that can spawn lotus. When Blizzard changed the respawn timer to be shorter and have some randomness, they also roughly doubled the number of possible spawn locations.
I get lotus all the time in epl. I find them while doing my plaguebloom/dreamfoil route. I know where they all spawn so I check as i run past. Camping one particular spawn won’t do anything because it may not spawn there for a long time.
