So, is WOW coming to Xbox?

is it actually happening???

No, there would be significant changes to the game to make it work with a controller first. It’s not like final fantasy where it natively supports a controller, you would need addons.

I’d be down with it. Just chilling on my recliner, playing on my big tv.

Actually, why don’t I just do that now, with my pc? That’ll connect to the tv, right?

WoW already has controller support. It came with Shadowlands.

It may be coming to gamepass or get some sort of integration with their services, but it wont come natively to the system without several changes to the interface.

Its pretty awful compared to the consoleport addon in my opinion. It would need additional features and tweaks before it would be ready for any kind of console release at all. Targeting features would be a big one to be changed as well as a way to enable it without a keyboard.

Maybe its changed since I tried it last, but it was a pretty forgettable feature. Consoleport is amazing though.

I could never find it. (Not that I’d use it but I did look)

No 100% not

Lol most definitely not be a revenue loss adding WoW subscription into PC gamepass

I was thinking more of an additional charge integration, something like the EA play program, where if you wanted plus it was extra (in this case the sub). It would be advertised and launched from gamepass services for PC.

No way in hell that sub goes away lol.

Yuh hope not the Xbox app on pc is more of a nightmare to navigate then the Epic Games Launcher.

The game would run at 30 FPS for artistic reasons.

Indirectly, yes. WoW can he played anywhere using Geforce Now and Geforce Now can be used on an X-Box…

So you can legitimately play WoW on an X-Box now

Streaming means that you can “play” WoW on anything that can be used as a streaming client.

But you wouldn’t actually be playing it on the XBox, the XBox would just be acting as a streaming client. The game would actually be running on cloud servers. You would be forced to deal with the extra latency/lag created by streaming the game instead of using local hardware, and there are absolutely ZERO guarantees that you are going to have a good experience on a non-PC platform, especially when trying to use a controller.

And BTW, Geforce Now isn’t free, so be ready to pay up.

yeah i didnt watch the xbox thing bc i don’t have one lol

From the sounds of that thread, it sounds like a third party implemented controller support through an addon. Not Blizzard.

Edit: This thread is also too interesting.

Thought I would throw my hat in the ring as say Xbox controller support has been a thing for a long time now. The primary issue however is that it’s of course very difficult to play the game using a controller given how many abilities you have to bind currently with some classes and specs. So while I could see an Xbox version of the game, it would probably work and play completely different like it does with OW. In which PC and console lobbies are typically separate due to both having strengths and weaknesses unique to each system.

in the long run they will have wow in every platform , is the smart thing to do

Yes.

I have a HTPC instead of cable, its literally just a computer with a bigger monitor/TV and a chair/couch I can lay across. My desk for the HTPC is a coffee table. The best benefit is that you still have easy access to ad blockers.

I don’t see how number of abilities is a problem.

I played ffxiv with a ps4 controller. As a dragoon. With 32 regularly used buttons. No issues.

it wont and if it doesn’t id quit the game because the changes they would have to make would ruin the game
