I doubt it will because it’s already a customization of the highland drake

and to be fair some nether dragons like Neltharaku and Karynaku (the patriarch and broodmother of the flight) look like normal dragons (albeit transparent ones).
My bet is they will be added with Outland dragonriding races, so you can unlock them from the reward bags and from getting gold time

My two cents is if its supposed to be customizable we will probably see those options added in patch 10.1.5 next week.

You can get the reward bags even if you don’t get gold. Or at least that’s how it works currently.
Yeah but getting gold times might add an armor color or perhaps fully armored variant saddle
Well, if they really do add all the old mounts to Dragonriding, than you won’t have to worry about it. Eventually. Maybe. Soon™.
Wowhead articles are clickbait. They speculate heavily based on data mined pixels.
It is not currently customizable.

The items were datamined i.e. they’re in the game files, they didn’t make any concrete claim as to when and what they’ll be rewarded for.
It would be cool if the customizations showed up on the trading post fpr like 50 tenders in the future
Some items have been in the files for years and have never been added, so we don’t know if or even when these customizations will actually be available. It could be this week. It could be 3 months from now. Or it could be never. We will just have to see.

Yeah. I’m guessing that, if they are indeed bugged or otherwise disabled, they might be patched in on Tuesday. If not, then Blizzard clearly has other plans or perhaps no plans at all for the moment.

There are actually pictures with armor on the drake, so the thought that there would be some customization is understandable. However, it’s kind of sloppy reporting. There’s the a disclaimer that people getting the mount are unable to customize etc. as if they were right, but it’s just a bug.
