So is Rezan dead-dead?

How would you know? Nobody can find her

Nah. Their spirits are connected to the Emerald Dream. Quite different.

Well I did also posit that they might be on borrowed time. In Rata’s words the few Prelates still with power were significantly weak in power. Granted I have to wonder how powerful they were at their height after doing the Zandalari AR quests. Her second in command seemed rather impressive for someone whose powers were diminished.

She was in WoD, though…

All those critters that my unborn valkyr won’t rez after I accidentally slaughter them

From what I’ve gathered, the Loa are sort of a cross between Shintoism/Buddhism and Santeria.

Prelates don’t necessarily have to worship any one specific Loa to draw their power from, but rather whatever Loa agrees to bargain with them. If a Prelate loses their Loa, they can always find a new one (Lorewise, probably given different Powers.)

Also, Rezan Probably WAS a Wild God but transcended into something more powerful Long ago.

Rezan’s soul was used to bring back Dazar

I think he is dead dead guys.

This thread reminds me of a post I saw on MMO champ months ago that posed the idea of a T-rex as Warchief of the Horde. The idea was if it was possible to rez Vol’jin but he had to take that form for some reason, and he still held his existing claim of being warchief.

It further advanced the idea that a huge throne in the middle of Orgrimmar with a giant T-rex on it would be kind of awesome xD with a roaring battle-cry and maybe servants to help do stuff (since tiny arms), and weapons on his armor for running into battle.

(the author posted it to twitter and Christie Golden hit it with a ‘like’ which was nice)

She can never catch a break. This is the what 4th time she’s been killed?

He could potentially reincarnate as Vol’Jin or pass his role as king of the loa onto Vol’Jin.

Alternate timelines don’t count

3rd

First in vanilla

Then the forsaken wanted more of her venom in cata

Then now in BFA. However her death in BFA is permanent according to Yazma.

Blizzard also stated once that they would like to explore the idea of Gilneas being reclaimed by the Gilneans.

Since that obviously never happened (and never will because they’ve since then pretty much outright stated that Gilneas is lost forever, even going as far as giving Mia Greymane a “Thor: Raganarok”-inspired voiced line referencing Gilneas as a place being lost forever), I don’t have any reason to believe that Rezan isn’t dead for good.

Also worth noting that Rezan being dead for good would make the Zandalar loading screen consistent with the Kul Tiras one where that loading screen has a character who dies for good too.

Blizzard simply saying out-of-game that the Loa who died in BfA aren’t permanently dead is so far not consistent with the in-game lore that explicitly states that Rezan, Hir’eek, and Shadra are dead for good, that much is for sure.

His status is currently “unknown.”

And Zul consumed his “essence,” not his soul. There is actually a difference.

As nouns, the difference between essence and spirit is that essence is the inherent nature of a thing or idea, while spirit is the undying essence of the soul.

One of the recent interviews said that rezan may not be dead, as they never made it clear if all of his loa spirit was used.

I think they’re going to reveal that part of rezans spirit was used to bind voljin to azeroth, and he’ll take his place as the next loa of kings tbh.

Though shadra is indeed dead dead, as she was drained of her loa spirit.

The same way the zuldrak loa were killed. Mamtoth killed himself by exploding his spirit instead to kill his followers and take them with him before they could kill him.

The entire plot is that zul and yazma were using the same ritual to drain shadra and rezan that the people of zuldrak did to kill their loa though.

The stelae in the House of the Lost Loa specifically says, “His essence was consumed by the Prophet Zul…”

And since many of the powerful loa are Wild Gods, it makes sense that it’s his essence and not his soul. To the people, he may be dead. But his spirit resides in the Emerald Dream.

Oof. Poor Shadra.

Hope it’s not permanent and Yazma was just bluffing.

It sorta depends on if in the process of turning Rezan into zombie Rezan the ability for him to reform was removed. I don’t really think so, though.

Considering Shadra reformed twice after being killed in vanilla and cata, it doesn’t necessarily take a very long time, either.

I just want my mans Gral back :weary: :shark:

Shadra is the real tragedy here.

She’s like the Kenny or the Krillin of the Loa.

Me, after watching Yazma kill Shadra: “Oh my god, you killed shadra!”

Wardruid Loti: “you b*stards”

AFAIK, Gral isn’t dead, he’s just very angry that the Naga are ransacking his temple, and is scouring the ocean for them. Or something.
