I’ve been thinking lately. Stormwind’s getting a little crowded, and there’s this perfectly good other city that’s basically been ignored for the past… Oh, I don’t know, five or so expansions. What would it take to get some folks to move in?
Ironforge Has:
Several bars
A barber
An auction house
A bank
Dozens of empty homes
Warmode capability (For the brave, that’s two separate “shards” of roleplay!)
Sure, it’s not the prettiest place on the market, but it has so much potential! The local dwarves are super friendly, and I doubt they’d be unhappy with a few new neighbors. There’s a lot of opportunity for RP here that’s been missed, and it would bring my dead heart such joy to see it come to life again!
Whatever, Aran. What are you gonna do about it?
So I’m thinking. It would be silly of me to ask others to move here if I didn’t intend to do it myself… so I’m thinking of starting a weekly bar, or a storytelling circle. Something to entice people to visit more often. I don’t have oodles and poodles of free time, but that would be something I’d be willing to commit to.
The Heart of the Mountain and Gnomeregan Far Fielders have been using IF as of late. Bruuk’s bar is a nice hotspot on days we spelunk the underground city.
I understand why it’s not the hub Stormwind is, not only is not the prettiest place, but Stormwind offers many different vibes in different areas. The vibe in Ironforge is pretty much the same in most places.
That being said, I have ALWAYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS thought the empty homes would make a great RP device/area!
So if there is some community event to bring folks to Ironforge, sign me up! xD
I love RPing I’m IF, tbh I RP there more often than SW as of late. However, I always have WM on because the house I use as my character’s IC home is one of the few buildings that people actually RP in <_<
Heart of the Mountain was created to facilitate this very thing! Slowly but surely we will help create the hub it should be. And we need as much help as we can get!
Modan Co used to frequent Bruuk’s Corner in the Military Ward pretty often when we worked out of Dun Algaz in Loch Modan (originally Dun Morogh). We always RPed that Bruuk reluctantly let us in because we tipped well, and payed for all the accidental drunken property damage that inevitably occurred. A man resigned to his fate.
We operate out of Kirthaven nowadays, but IF is a pretty quick flight away.
I think this is one of the best benefits for roleplaying in Ironforge. There are more vacant buildings in Ironforge then there are in Stormwind. Each is decorated and built differently as well. For example, one in the Hall of Explorers looks like it’s for fishermen, while another in the Commons will look like it’s the home of a civilian.
The Commons has five empty buildings and its tavern.
The Mystic Ward has three empty buildings, with two nearly empty ones except for an NPC inside or outside each of them respectively.
The Hall of Explorers has three empty buildings. It’s actually the only three buildings in this section of the city with an interior.
The Great Forge has two, and maybe a third if you’re a Dark Iron.
The Military Ward has one empty building and its tavern.
In total that’s 14 empty buildings to choose from! Given that Stormwind City is pretty crowded, and a lot of the buildings and taverns in the city are used up, I think trying Ironforge would be a great idea. I’ll consider trying it with Azergarde, by using one of the buildings as a sort of Guild Hall.
