“there are drops that give you points” yes… drops that are rng dependent that after a month I haven’t seen a single one of them. So I am locked. As in I am unable to progress until I get lucky with RNG which is what I said. I do not know how you can refute that by agreeing with my point that’s it’s heavily reliant on RNG. Every single day I check the AH for enchanting recipes and they’re NEVER there. I have done raids, and world quests, and elemental storms. Pretty much every content this expansion has to offer and yet to once see a world drop.
Saying I’m not softlocked implies there is something in my power to fix my situation. So please tell me what I can do to force “drops that give you points” so it is truly no big deal. Cuz until then my progress is halted.
but again, getting that 4th tree wont really mean much, if you have used points into other trees, then its pretty unlikely you can get the points you need to make rank 3 enchants for weapons.
Won’t even be able to get started for weeks, months, years. However long it takes for RNG or the ah to provide something I can use to get to 100. I’d like to at least start the process. Either way I have to do it. Just hoping for wanting sooner rather than later. I don’t expect to be making the best enchants tomorrow. But I can’t even start putting points into that tree until I can unlock the tree. 25, 50, and 100 is silly enough as is. Idk why it isn’t 25, 50, 75.
This makes no sense. Knowledge is something you get tons of just for playing the game. Obviously, I won’t be able to max it out right away. But I can get started.
Would help if I was starting from scratch. But since I already screwed myself it probably won’t help. I’ve gotten all the recipes I can get except the “world drops” which I’m not entirely certain even exist or are able to drop as I’ve never seen them on the AH or seen them drop for myself or anyone in raid farming elemental storms.
the only things that get skill ups from like 80 - 100 are from one specific tree(the one they chose to unlock last, and the next unlock is at 100), or 4 random drops from the elemental storms.
How would I know the game was going to soft lock me? the other two seemed better to have for levelling while the last one seemed like something to invest once I was max level and able to invest in it. I didn’t expect my known recipes to stop giving me levels in enchanting and thus prevent me from getting the final spec. I knew it was important but didn’t feel I could do much with it at first.
I now know it unlocks additionals recipes I could use to level up to 100 enchanting which means if I choose it first or second getting the third tier would be much easier.
The recipes available to me are no longer giving levels in enchanting. To get more enchanting recipes I need to get to 100 enchanting which I can’t do without higher difficulty recipes. There is apparently one saving grace: an excruciatingly rare world drop I’ve yet to see drop for myself, others, or on the ah.
Exactly. I don’t know why blizzard gives us a choice on what specs to unlock in whatever order when one will mess you up really freaking hard if you don’t make it.
To level you need rare recipes from vendors or drops. I think there are a couple you can do crafting orders for, but no no one wants them. Costs Awakened order and Titan orbs. or is that JC?
My suggestion is to beg and bribe people to part with their valuable materials so you can level. Or max out rep and buy all the recipes eventually and power level yourself.

I don’t really have the brain juice to scour through several pages in hopes of finding an “aha”. Which is why I made a forum post. If you saw something and are being coy (I genuinely cannot tell). Then I’d appreciate you sharing. Otherwise my eyes are just going to glaze over trying to go over all of that right now for a small chance it’s going to tell me something I don’t already know.
Well… I found something. I never bothered with wands, cuz it didn’t seem that appealing cuz the wands and stuff are BoP… but sigh there is something I can make while ungodly expensive that will continue to give exp. It’s going to cost ~100k maybe more but I think I can get the final 20 points. And move on with my life. A week of picking flowers will make that back up.
Actually I might run out of because of limited artisan mettle.
Might be a bold take, but I do think Blizz should scale the thresholds for unlocking each profession’s trees down a bit, so that you unlock the final one by rank 80 instead of 100.
Seems like it would go a long way toward solving what seems to be one of the more common problems people have leveling their professions.
The way you chose to level depends on crafting orders. So yup you are stuck. Like some of my alts too.
Might as well do the profession on another character if you really want those weapon enchants. I split my alts to different specs and some have more success leveling then others. You can really screw yourself up from progressing in professions if you put the skill up recipes in weird places.
My inscriptionist has to craft decks to level up, no one asks for them in crafting orders and for some reason the aces drop from a fishing treasure bag, people don’t like to fish… so its like 55k for them to buy the ace and I just realize I spent 20 points in dark moon decks in something people don’t buy and basically wasted 60 points of knowledge on a dead sort of trinekt xD…
Yea heavily regret not doing my research and I didn’t even want to invest in darkmoon cards in the first place but I got locked out of making some stuff for inscription.
It’s very annoying. I have realized the only thing to level reliably is making profession gear on alts/ and the rare random customers I rarely see on public orders.
That or waiting for like the next patch for some profession recipes from like the next raid.
Really wish blizz would add a hotfix to add skill ups to more specs/recipes.
