So I'm firing up my druid for classic

And I never before during the old days of wow had add ons I’m looking at this curse forge thing I need this in order to install add ons right sorry I’m an older gamer and new to this stuff.

I play pretty light weight, but on my Druid I’ll use deadly boss mods, details, questie, decursive, classic aura durations, better vendor price, Omni cc. There are optional ones too but those are pretty basic must haves without redoing your whole UI.

that’s not “light weight” but ok :expressionless:

Well details isn’t really needed and is probably the heaviest, but for someone new to addons seeing that may be helpful. Having these isn’t going to make 50 confusing things pop on their screen when they log in either

Strongest spec by far to level and gear up at 60 is feral bear, so Plater helps tremendously.

Also, I can’t recall the name, but the addon to display mana bar while shapeshifted is a big boon as well.

Also go engineer if you can. Bears are massively OP tanks until later raid tiers and bombs (only usable out of form) help in overcoming their aoe threat limit.

Not at all. I hate curseforge, and just install the addons manually.

Just download the compressed files, drop them in your wow addons folder, and then right click and select “extract here”.

If you’ve never installed an addon before then you probably have to create the addon folder, which is just as easy. Just make a new folder and name it addons, then put it inside the Interface folder of your wow files

Do you have to update manually? How do you know when they are out of date without curseforge?

Most era addons go for great periods of time without updates. You can check the dev’s site once a month or so and be happy.

Some addons such as questie and dbm will yell at you in game when out of date.

Curseforge tells you.

Also, you don’t really need any addons. Some recommendations, but not required…

Questie - If you wanna not bother figuring out the quests again, use this. Otherwise skip.
DBM - If you want simple notifications for already easy fights, use this. Otherwise skip.
Details - If you wanna know how much damage/healing you’re doing relative to others, use this. Otherwise skip.
Weak Auras - If you want a super flexible catch all to get useful things for your class or fights, use this. Look into it, but otherwise, skip.

Past that, there’s lots of mods to make the UI look less awful. But if you’re happy with that… SKIP!

all the tech stuff you just described is out of reach of 99% of people :expressionless:

definitely not the HC addon, lol :expressionless:

I don’t worry about it until they start to bug out.

It’s kind of like owning a car. Don’t bother fixing it until it’s broken
