So, I watched a Spriest MOP rotation

Surge of darkness procs.
Divine insight. procs.
(Until here I was in love with the name of the procs)
That shadowy expansive shockwave.
The ravens flying around the Shadow Priest.
The black Wings.

I always thought people asking for old shadowform and stuff back was a bit crazy because the graphics now are far better. But wow, just… WOW. It feels I came VERY late to play Shadow Priest.

I don’t know how good it was damage wise, but it had a LOT of flavor. I have just one question:

Just why? Why change such a beautiful caster for what we have now? Why move it from a dark angel to tentacles?

I really just miss Devouring Plague. I hope they bring it back in Shadowlands.

Same question for disc.

I never played it and I miss the spec. completely.

I miss my old shadow priest so much I’ve shelved my priest that I played from classic on. Now she just makes bags in the garrison. Insanity is not fun.

Shadow wasn’t actually all that great in MoP. Spectral guise was probably the coolest thing about the spec back then.

Aesthetically, shadow has always looked cool, but shadow combo points weren’t that impressive as a spec mechanic.

I honestly loved Legion’s iteration the most for shadow.

Edit: I think Shadow’s other strong iterations would have been Cata honestly and maybe WoD if you liked clarity of power. Otherwise, Shadow from Vanilla to even now (minus void form) has largely had the same core rotation.

MoP Disc was degenerate. The new iteration is leaps and bounds more healthy.

They could have reduced power rather than create a balancing nightmare.

All I know is that we don’t need Spirit Shell in this game again. We don’t need passive Atonement again. 80% healing from PWS spam again.

Because somehow Blizz thought we all wanted to play kissy face with Old Gods instead of staying as a mysterious dark caster.

I hate it now.

Heck yes we do! Disc Priest DPS healing was the epitome of healing back in Cata and it was FANTASTIC and fun!

I don’t know why everything void related has to do with tentacles, really. Is understandable that they wanted to give the void a source, but could’ve been done differently.

Ethereals are more inbued with it and they don’t show tentacles at all. Too bad, though. The dark wings, ravens and such is possibly never coming thanks to them linking it to the old gods like this.

I liked Legion one as well, despite the tentacles. It was the first one I got to play and with the artifact weapon capped it was beautiful.

Still, at the very least the flavor of the class looked to be more in tune with the opposite of light than it is now. And and the lack of insanity. I guess that link shouldn’t have been made.

False.

It’s only healthy in a raid aspect.

Dungeons? JK unless you’re doing high level keys mobs die too fast.

Open world? JK you’re probably wasting most of your voidform unless you’re pulling huge packs.

PvP? JK you’re now a ghetto affliction warlock.

The post you are responding to was in regards to Disc Priest - not shadow.

MoP Shadow Priests sadly were a meme. Worst damage in the game from what I remember.

Oh wtf I thought this was an spriest post lol.

The thread is but the specific poster you were responding to was talking about MoP Disc.

It ain’t no thing though. I ain’t mad at cha.

As much as I hate the current version of shadow, I don’t actually mind the void stuff being a part of their character. I just don’t think it has to be the key focal part of it. Shadow is a broad term, and the void stuff can just be an aspect of it. By which I mean, just make void form a regular old cooldown along with giving us our old shadow orbs style.

I despised shadow orbs.

They are purple combo points and nothing more.

If Blizzard is going to get rid of void form I would like to see them actually try something new and not regress to shadow orbs because shadow orbs weren’t that cool and Blizzard was never able to find a spot where they made sense or worked well mechanically in the spec.
