It was fine until I reach WOTLK and especially for Cataclysm where nearly every recipe require you to farm Epicurean’s Award which you can only get like 2-4 a day as far as I know unless there is WOTLK timewalking which isn’t the case.
Why is this event a thing? I remember being able to level up my cooking skills to max in those expansions without having to farm Epicurean’s Award back in the days. (I could be wrong though but I’m almost sure of it.)
Welp guess that idea is going out the window, time to level up fishing in all expansion instead.
In BFA? Or was it Legion? I think in BFA they changed the professions to be per expansion instead of just combined, so now instead of just taking the cheapest recipe of the current expansion that uses vendor items and level to 600, you need to go back to each expansion to get the expansion specific stuff.
MoP is split up, you have the main food cooking and than each individual Way of the X, it’s a nightmare as you need to either buy all the mats from the AH or farm them all at Halfhill yourself.
There are about 600 individual skill levels just in MoP alone and those require the MoP cooking award to progress all the way as some of the vendor recipes are only brought with those awards, or at a high price from the AH.
The path of a chef is not an easy one. Wait until Legion when a bear with a taste for burning RNG will decide whether or not you get your recipes (the answer is no).
