So let me preface what i am about to say that i am happy to see new content for races in 9.2.5 and i think it’s a nice thing to see since they haven’t done anything with any “heritage” anything for years now even though a HUGE portion of the playerbase has no “heritage” content at all.
So what i have to ask is when Blizzard sat down and decided to do new heritage content (which i am very happy about even if it’s tiny) and they sat together and said ok what can we do for new content for heritage sets or mounts etc. etc. etc. how did they come out at the choice that they made? Blood Elf and Dark Iron?
Because i have to be honest here, it goes to EVERYTHING that Alliance player base has complained about for going on almost 2 decades now about a giant Horde Bias in almost everything in the game. I mean the Blood Elf race is played by what 40% of the Horde and the Dark Iron are…3-5% of the Alliance? I haven’t looked at the exact amounts and it really isn’t that important because the balance of what has been created now over the years is ridiculously tiny anyways (I have mostly given up on a great idea of heritage armor because it’s almost 1/2 a decade and it’s been a terrible job with terrible implementation) but in this case it’s almost appalling how little this content does ANYTHING for the Alliance. I mean seriously, you guys got into a room and decided AFTER ALL THIS TIME to create “new” heritage content and then decided to give it to THE MOST POPULAR Horde race (whose armor is absolutely incredible and my Blood Elves wear) and to ONE of if not THE LEAST played Alliance race…really that was the grand idea for new heritage content. In the 4 years that Dark Iron Dwarves have been in the game i have yet to see MORE THAN 5 IN THE ENTIRE GAME ANYWHERE that were players and i haven’t seen one being played at all in SL.
Good to see the Horde got new content for it’s most played or one of it’s most played races and it’s going to be fantastic, it is something i will get too for my own Blood Elves. Sorry to see the Alliance once again gets peanuts almost no one cares about, shocking…not really as it’s just par for the course. Maybe some day the major races will get Heritage armor but after so many years passing and nothing being done like i said i have pretty much given up, especially when “new” content for Heritage items are handed to almost no one Alliance side, i mean they could have done something for regular Dwarves and hit more players at least although still a tiny % player wise.
Lets be real, two Alliance factions got access to undead/forsaken customisation despite there being absolutely no reason for it. You also have cross faction play to make up for the population discrepancy.
How are people so blinkered to see this nonsense pandering and go “again another patch of evident Horde bias”.
Please give me any example of an Alliance raised Night Elf.
The reasoning you give is the same reasoning that says the Forsaken should be an Alliance race, not Horde, because they were raised citizens of Lordaeron.
I don’t recall Sylvanas being a member of the Alliance.
Those same ones that were raised burned down Teldrassil. Are you claiming the Alliance burned Teldrassil by that logic?
To clarify, I never said Night Elves weren’t raised as undead. I said there are no undead elves in the Alliance.
Another issue with this is that if a player don’t have a blood elf you can race change or boost and do the new content and be able to earn the original belf heritage armor and the new. If you don’t have a dark iron you cannot race change or boost one as then you’ll be unable to get the original heritage.
What would have been wonderful here would have been to give the night elves some love. Basically been slowly driving the alliance faction to dwindle to the point that although pre-made cross faction is welcome, full cross faction is what is needed. Go on a horde toon on off peak hours, queue a dungeon - you’ll get one. Do the same as alliance and see how much longer it takes. We need full on cross faction.
Just so i understand what you are saying here, what you want is that Alliance should not have access to playing Dark Rangers and it should ONLY BE HORDE?
Yet you don’t understand
Is that seriously your argument?
We aren’t even going to talk about the nonsensical undead/forsaken “customization” all of which is an eye color and a skin color that are locked together to use AND THAT IS IT. That fact of the matter is that BOTH the Alliance and the Horde finally got access too the Dark Ranger look and not the undead/forsaken anything.
not anymore, the dark ranger you talk to during the questline says some of them want to come back to the alliance, if tyrande will accept them. which she does since we’re all about “hope” and “renewal” now. personally i don’t really like it but the NEs do have a lore reason for the skin
It’s hard to take any ‘Horde bias’ argument seriously that’s presented by someone who’s also extremely biased. And pretty much all of the people making these arguments are extremely biased.
Oh I agree about the Forsaken thing. I said it elsewhere, even Blood Elves shouldn’t have got it, it should have been a Forsaken customisation.
I mean that is the benefit of being the designer isn’t it, you can just make any nonsense into canon from a single character interaction in the game that 90% of the players won’t even experience.
They could make Murlocs the leaders of the Alliance if they truly wanted. Doesn’t make it any better, it’s like the whole Calia Menthil thing.
The Forsaken have been hated and disgusted by the Alliance for a generation, they eventually come to terms with a parley which ends in betrayal, and then the next we get is two quests “clean up the Undercity, now we’re all friends”, and now Alliance players are claiming Calia Menthil is a Horde NPC.
Honestly the percentage of players playing the races is irrelevant here.
It’s mostly just saddening that blood elves and DI dwarves got even more cosmetic stuff when there are half a dozen races still waiting on their first and only racial transmog.
I mean, I appreciate the armour set for my blood elf paladin but my human, draenei, and troll characters need some love too Blizzard.
Biased because i play Horde or biased because you say so?
Clearly i completely disagree. From a game standpoint they had to throw a bone but to throw a bone to such a tiny portion of one faction (Alliance) while appealing to almost an entire other faction (Horde) is utterly ridiculous.
I can however definitely agree all the races should have their Heritage Armor after all these years before races that have already gotten things get even more.
