Sooooo…
For about a month i’ve been working on getting… " Lingering Echo of Tarecgosa"
because i saw another player with it…and thought it would be perfect for my Gnome priest… like almost having my very own Chromie …
So i decided to look up some videos for a suggestions, and came across one with a
few interesting strategies… took their advice & used a warlock (for a pet strategy avoiding one shotting the boss) make the long story short… and 3 weeks later…and a couple of hours on the dragonflight chain quest i get the mount… i log on to my priest to do some chromie character cosplay and lo and behold… you have to redo the
ENTIRE QUESTLINE AND RUN BACK INTO THE FIRELANDS for another 7 or more times!! depending how bad you messed up the first timesssszzz on collecting specific items off of the bosses…because you gotta collect them before you accidentally kill them…
make the longer story shorter… this is the part where i begin to question " what am i doing with my life right now??" and i think ima take a break.,and return a few months down the road… and Yes, … i had to share because that “Warband Mount” part is not true at all…and i can’t be the only person that was deceived like this… on top of that if you’re reading this…please take my advice and use the character you want it for ( has to be a caster because , even though it says warband mount …its not )
Welp… maybe they’ll have a new class when i return, hopefully one ive been bugging the crap out of Devs about… i doubt it… Think ima go and meet a nice lady, settle down and have a kid… Definitely nothing Warband about that Scenario either, but hey… Definitely a new adventure …take care
Hmm I would like to know when this mount was declared a “warband mount” before I feel deceived.
Because this quest chain has been around a hell of a lot longer than warbands and the effect has always been locked to the character that completed it.
I’ve had this mount since Cata and it’s always been locked to the character that got it. None of my other characters can use it, so I don’t know who is claiming that it’s a warband mount.
Who claimed it was a warband mount? It’s always been locked to the character that completed the questline. Originally because you had to use the staff to summon the mount, but even after they added some QoL changes it was always restricted.
This is the Dragonflight quest to make the staff a Permanent Mount
and heres the item information and under the title of the mount : Lingering Echo of Tarecgosa it also say : Lingering Echo of Tarecgosa
Item Level 30
Binds when picked up Mount (Account-wide)
Also when you read the Mount Item information in your mount inventory
it Literally says Warband
Mounts are account wide. There are mounts which don’t show up in your mount collection unless you change the search options to show unusable mounts on that character.
There are alot of mounts which are class and class+race restricted (All Legion Class Mounts, Paladin Racial Mounts, Paladin Argent Tournament Specific Mounts, DK Mounts, Warlock mounts).
In the case of Echo of Tarecgosa mount it has the restriction that in order to use the transformation it requires that character to have completed the legendary staff to use.
Characters who have not completed the staff cannot use the mount.
My guess is that it is still locked behind which characters have got the legendary staff but you don’t need to do redo the Dragonflight blue dragon questline on those characters to use the proper mount form.

Yeah, I have turned it into a permanent mount when that quest came out. I don’t remember the specific item mentioning that it was account wide, but it has been a while. I just know that even after turning it into a mount, I was never able to access it on other characters.
But as Tovi mentioned, in your image it has red text stating that you have to have completed that quest in order to use the mount.
I consider items that are Warband specific items that can be traded across toons and put into your Warband inventory whereas account wide is not specific to inventory and includes things like mechanics and collection tabs. But that’s just my interpretation.
Are you sure? I have the mount on my Druid from doing the quest line but none of my other characters with the staff can use the mount. Tried on three of them are you able to use it on characters that didn’t do the extra quest line?
