So some guy gave me some gold, which is cool and all, but it had me realize something after the fact.
Are people normally this nice? Or should I be worried.
I’ve done that a number of times. When I’ve had gold on a character on a server I’m not playing anymore and am deleting the characters, I’ll sometimes just give it to someone. If it’s a large amount I might buy a pet but otherwise I’ll just give the gold and whatever valuables I might have someone who can use it.

it might flag you
Did he ask you to cash the gold and mail him back the extra he gave you by mistake?

Yeah, that’s what he was saying too.
Which is nice, and I’m very thankful.
But I can’t get rid of that pit in my stomach, mostly just wanted to get people’s opinion on it.
It’s like everywhere else. The good things rarely get mentioned in public. Do something bad, and people will discuss/comment it into the ground. Which is one of the main reasons people are toxic. Attention.

someone was probably waiting around to get their purchased gold, and the sellers traded it to the wrong person.
if you have any concerns, you could open a ticket.

It’s almost certainly stolen leprechaun gold. They don’t kindly to thieves so he scapegoated you. 
Beware of any gnomish looking types wearing a lot of green.

Same. I usually look around at the players near me, pick one, and off goes an in game mail.
