So I did it.. I finally made the switch. I joined the Horde

I faction transferred my main yesterday and joined the Horde. I’m not gonna lie, and this is probably hella dumb, but I feel guilty sometimes lol. I’ve been Alliance for as long as I can remember (over 10 years, for sure), and it just feels so weird to be in a different environment. I’m a little annoyed with Sylvanas and Blightcaller tho… all they do is yell, bark orders and just feel over the top. Does it end?

The primary reason why I switched was community I think. Since I’ve joined the Horde, I’ve already had a few encounters with people out in the world (whispers), etc, that have been really fun. That just doesn’t seem to happen on Alliance lol. Everything just feels really bland and casual (which isn’t bad), but people just seem to log on, do their thing, then log off. No real camaraderie. Maybe it’s just me, I don’t know.

I will admit though, I miss Jaina. She is the ONLY reason why I stayed Alliance for so long. But, Anduin is just so boring… Tyrande’s writing is just so… uneventful. Greymane just seems exactly like Blightcaller, just as bloodthirsty. I don’t know, man, I just feel like the writing for Alliance sucks and it’s really demotivated me. I guess I will have to support Jaina from afar now :disappointed_relieved:

Any fellow Alliance defectors have any advice for me?

did you make your main a blood elf?

I’m as close to former alliance as I can get (as I was once alliance before undeath), but such transitions is normal for most. Just give it time and patience. You’ll get used to the new environment.

Welcome to the winning side!

I was an Alliance Paladin for 13 years. It’s never too late!

The barking of orders is new for the horde in BFA. Personally I hate Blightcaller and Sylvanas and I’ve been horde since 07.

I really hope Thrall comes back and we FINALLY get back to the “Strength and Honor” type horde again.

I don’t believe you. Orgrimmar was built in a desert and I’ve been through there you guys don’t have AC.

That is exactly what’s going to happen.

I play with 3 RL friends, two of which have been trying to get the rest of us to agree to a faction transfer. We keep resisting as we have all been Alliance since launch but every expansion it just harder to deny them their request. I am betting by 9.0 they will finally win us over.

This was a big part of it to. Alliance Shaman races are just soooo boring.

It gets cool at night.

You gotta go level. Leveling is the medium by which you learn about the faction. Its more convoluted on the Horde side simply because more has happened but it still showcases the Horde. I suggest starting a new alt, preferably a core race (orc, troll, tauren, forsaken in particular) and read the quest texts and try to absorb the reasons for why they do what they do.

The difference in views among the Horde races makes for a very compelling faction compared to the hand holding and kumbaya singing of the Alliance. Alliance as a group of races is meant to be a sort of ideal, the Horde feels more realistic with disagreements and in-fighting while still working together.

Not a defector. Advice: You went to the side that only rolls for wins in WPVP. Try being brave and PVPing against your former brethren with fewer than 20 other avatars.

Living proof this is wrong. I am a mother who is far beyond middle age.

That’s good to know. The sad thing is that I really enjoyed Sylvanas’ character pre-BFA. So much so I was SO PUMPED when I first saw the BFA cinematic at BlizzCon (legit teared up) when she bansheed out. I mean, she’s just such a strong character. I almost went Horde at that point… but then she started doing all her bad stuff :frowning:

I don’t WPvP so… ok? Will be nice though if I want to, considering the Alliance has no sense of teamwork. At all.

And if you don’t WPVP, you know this how?
