So I decided to test my strength with push ups

I’m the typical skinny fat guy (156 pounds, 6 foot tall).

The push up test was to see how many you can do until exhaustion where you simply can’t do anymore. That means no major pauses between each rep.

My results?

For a male in his forties, the “average” is 15 to 19. I was able to do a whopping 8 which put me in the poor strength category for males and the barely average category for females my age group which was 8 to 12 reps.

My arms and chest are still aching 3 hours later! I guess lifting my computer mouse is not widely recognized as a strength building exercise!!!

Anyway… no real point to this thread.

well easy solution to this. You know you can do 8, so aim to do 9 tomorrow. Once you got 9 down easily, aim for 10. When you’re at 10, aim for 11. Even if you just consistently do 8 a day for a longer time, you’re gonna get used to that and then you can aim higher. I believe in you
