So I’ve been playing this game for years I’ve never bought gold no wow tokens nothing and after all this time I’ve finally amassed over 1 million gold took a lot of trading and messing around a bit in the auction it took a long time to get to that amount of gold and while trying to make that gold I have bought a few things that I would consider expensive asf honestly to me anything over 10k gold is crazy to me but man I keep hearing people talking about 1 million ain’t nothing anymore and I see that in this expansion even just for the little things it’s all stupidly expensive and it’s just starting to seem like I was probably stupid for grinding up all this gold I mean I was proud at first but sometimes I think man just a few wow tokens and ur basically at a mil maybe I shoulda just bought like a token every now and then anyways I just wanna know how much gold do you need to be considered rich / ps screw the damn bots that keep the prices of reagents from going down in the auction house it’s annoying
1 million is not rich, but it’s pretty comfortable. I usually have around 100k to 300k. I’ve only ever broken a million with a very lucky auction I sold once.
As far as I’m concerned, it’s an accomplishment. Maybe a small one, but take pride in the small ones as much as the large ones. You’re set on gold for a while as long as you don’t spend recklessly. If you had fun, too, that’s enough – isn’t it?
I have about 1.5m right now spread across my characters but I have a LOT of characters and do a lot of questing. I also blow a ton of gold on transmogs and have probably spent over 100k at this point on profession mats between characters.
If you quest a lot and play multiple characters gold builds up quickly. If you sell mats gold builds up very quickly.
I do not consider myself “rich”. I have a lot of gold (3-4M right now, I guess), but I don’t consider myself rich, because I do not have a lot of income.
That means that, yea, while I could drop 100K on something (and I think I did do that, on something I don’t remember what), I look at how long it take to refill. “Rich” is when you don’t give something like that a second thought. “Oh now store mount, $25, two tokens? So, what, 400-500k? SURE! No big deal!”
All my gold is mostly from just “playing the game” and not spending it. I craft and sell some stuff on the AH, but that’s honestly not super rewarding. Just more rewarding than not doing it at all.
I’m up 100K or so this expansion so far, but I pay silly prices for Tailoring workorders so I can get my worthless profession maxed out for some silly reason.
Yeah I can’t lie I’ll never forget some of the crazy things I pulled off to be able to make all this gold like how I flipped the heck outta runecraft armor back at the start of shadowlands cause people were selling them for lower then the mats to make them and many other things it was a pretty cool journey I won’t lie I never did anything boring that I didn’t want to to be able to grind for that gold and yeah at least I can say I made a million gold fully legit and not many people can say that so im pretty proud of that
1 million gold is 80 bucks, 4 hours of employment. It’s nothing for busy adults to buy a few hundred bucks worth of tokens every month or 2 to not have to worry about gold.
people who played wod mission tables basically made double digit millions without doing anything and the economy has been ruined since
I spent most of WoD trying to make gold and had around 3-4 million. Since then i don’t bother trying to make money and probably have 1M currently.
not rich but Its okay
at the beginning of the expansion, I made almost 5m…it was the best time, and I didnt played that much, but now, even 1 million will take some time…it’s all about opportunities and your patience…
Im gna brag because this isn’t real life. I just bought tww with gold. I always pay for game time with gold. I just dropped 100k to get my item level up high enough for heroics to get that quest done before reset. I still probably have around gold cap.
I take 3 or 4 year long breaks a lot, and when I come back I never know how rich or poor my leftover gold will make me, heh. Inflation, deflation, the value of sellable inventory, it’s a rollercoaster.
Enough gold to not even blink when you purchase mogs from the AH.
you are rich as long as you can afford what you want.
But i do consider myself one of the richer residents of azeroth with close to 8.5m in cash and about 20 million in assets.
Hmmm, I don’t know about rich. I’d say that I have deep pockets.
Buying the AH mount was a big deal for me because I knew that it was going to be available before the expansion and so I had something to “go for”. And that is when making gold is fun, when there is a goal to achieve and then buying it.
Right now, there are no real status gold sinks. I gave two million gold to my guild leader (and friend) for some spending cash to make profession mats easy to do. And I’m sitting on just under ten million gold with nothing out there that I want.
I remember blowing half-a-million gold on that flying mechanical mount from Mechagon and never rode it around, that changed my thinking a lot!
i made gold cap in 2.5 months this xpac with mining / blacksmithing. But that’s not a lot pending your spending habits…
Been here since 2008 and I’ve never banked over 1-million (yet), but I’m not gold-motivated. That said, this xpac I’ve changed that and have been selling all herbs/mats I get my hands on, so I’m really close to having 1-million+ gold.
It sounds like rich would be several million…I think?
I sometimes have to check my bank to find things to sell to afford xmog. So… probably on the other end of the economic spectrum.
I miss the WOD tables. I had 14 toons churning out free gold.
It’s table missions that paid for the brutosaur that came out in BFA. Sadly, I’m back to being broke but I have no regrets.
Go on pug HC runs. As soon as something desirable drops, and you get it, $$$. Immediately you will have people whisper ‘1 million gold for x item’ ‘Daddy, how much do you want for it?’.
It’s usually the trinkets.
I’ve gotten lucky and gotten 2 that people go bananas for. Player gave me 2 million for it, and for the mastery one 3 million.
Hah!
You can use me as a bar. Anyone richer than me is rich… which seems to be just about everyone at the moment.
