Sounds like an addon error, personally. 420 is what it should be, and that’s what my speed addon shows me when I use it. It’s not entirely out of the question that, when fiddling with the numbers, a bug was introduced allowing mount equipment, class features, etc to work to increase steady flight speed, but that seems unlikely.
Rather than rely on an add-on, I would measure my time over a known course. Do this on both steady flight and skyriding, and then take the ratio. It should be within shouting distance of 705/420 in the old world.
I noticed you posted these pictures while on a death knight. Unless changed in The War Within, paladins and death knights have faster mounted speed than other classes due to passives they have.
This is the truth. And it’s an increase of 20% of TOTAL speed, not just an additional 20% added to the number, so it’s actually quite massive for flying mounts.
I’ll check some others…I kept getting 420 and then 530 all thru the last few days
EDIT
I think Im seeing what it is.
Druid flight seems to be 420 in flight form…when I swapped to a flying mount, now the same druid is 530 in steady flight
yeah…420 seems to be the druid flight form max (in SF) with MOUNTED steady flight being 530 + any bonuses from what Im seeing now that Im paying attention
I wonder if this is intentional or an oversight?
If intentional, feels like blizzard declaring war against druid flight form for some juvenile reason.
If theyre gonna do that, maybe they should start giving us all mage ports to take mages class advantages away too, lol
flight form was always the same base speed as mounted flight…no mods, of course…so around 400ish with max speed.
Now flight form is a full 100 slower than mounted steady flight, which is very noticeable.
